It's all about the Coq to be quite honest. And I don't care how cocky he comes across!
I just watched it on youtube as didnt see the game live. There is no way that should be a red card and at least it didnt cost us the win. I am expecting a successful appeal against it.
Eh no it was a professional foul so only 1 match ban which will probably be overturned on appeal anyway
should be rescinded when we appeal
Wasn't a professional foul, it was serious foul play, defined as:
A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Pretty sure we have Reading in our next 3 domestic games anyway.
Don't think it will be classed as a professional foul.
Ref put that down as serious foul play? 😂 It was just a cynical trip that happens nearly every game when attackers get goalside of defenders

But he jumps in. That is what changes it from a normal cynical trip. He "lunges".
No way that was a straight red. If the referee thinks so, then I'm not surprised. He blatantly ignored all the fouls on Walcott and I'm sure he was disappointed we won
Don't see the difference. Didn't use excessive force, wasn't dangerous, never seen a foul like that end up as a red
If that was a straight red there would be red cards in most games. Shocking decision

He jumped in, both feet off the floor, and that is seen as out of control. Absolutely no intention to play the ball.
I am Gooner, that video cuts off Xhaka from the picture.

Regardless of whether you think it was a red card or a yellow card (and for me he was deservedly sent off), it was a completely idiotic thing for Xhaka to do. There was absolutely no need to dive in and take him out, Barrow wasn't even in our half of the pitch. He really needs to cut that out of his game if he wants to be a regular first-team player.

Definitely better quality than the one I found. Still think a red is very harsh. His studs were never showing at the player and he swipped him from the side. As I said, if thats a red there would be reds in most games.
Just to clarify, the key thing is he turns his leg in so his laces are pointing at the player when he makes contact. Clearly only a yellow. If he had lunged in with his studs showing a red would be the right decision.

Dunno about that, think it was the fact he jumped in that distinguishes it from the other cynical fouls you see every week.
Not saying it was a certain red, or that every ref would have given it. But Moss can certainly defend his decision. An appeal would probably fail.
If that was not overturned on appeal it would set a precedent for a new level of harshness on red cards being issued and would have to be applied in all games. We've certainly had fouls like that and worse against us on a number of occasions and only a yellow was given.
But as for Xhaka being unavailable, if we have Coq, Santi, Elneny and Ramsey who is due back available I can certainly live without him for a game. In fact, if they are all fit I'm not even sure Xhaka would make my matchday squad.
you all just want to hate on xhaka, hes been great for us so far
The ref's idiocy, and consequently a straight red card, means that Xhaka will miss the following matches: Middlesborough, Sunderland and then the North London Derby
