What i think could work

Been vying for this team for a few weeks now but Carrick is not in Jose's premier league XI.

Ibra will always start for now.

Be wary about praising Carrick like he's the second coming. He made a monumentous mistake that almost led to a goal - we just glossed right over that given de grad save, the final score with the cherry being RVP's goal.

Also, does Carrick have the legs for 2 games in 4 days anymore ?

Whilst I agree it's a good line up that could work

In games like this Jose will always want a physical presence up top.

Your squad is so old and full of has beens. Jose is not going to solve that. He only cares about his own reputation so he wont build a team and squad for now and the future. He will just build a squad for now. Look at every club he has been at.

I think we should still start with Zlatan, he's only failed to score in his past 2 games. Maybe later on with players tiring we can utilise the pace of Rashford. If Zlatan is in form our football can still be very fluid.

Which "old has-beens" is Mourinho playing on a regular basis?

Yeah he left Real and chelsea in a right mess. Chelsea reached the CL final within a year and Real won 2 CL in the 3 seasons after.

Agreed. Zlatan to start with two quicker guys out wide today.

Better to be a has-been than to have never been at all.

Good thing the topic of the thread is not "future squads under Jose"

Having both Carrick and Mata in the same team won't work because you end up being too lightweight and off the pace.

Not necessarily true as we saw in those 3 games in LVGs first season but I probably wouldn't play both, especially with Zlatan as well. I think you can accommodate a couple slower players with pace around. What both Carrick and Mata lack in physical pace they accommodate with quick thinking and passing when needed.

None of Busquets, Xavi or Iniesta were quick in Barcas hay days but their intelligence and speed around them was enough.

Build a team for the future, start Rashford.

Minutes per goal

Aguero 95
Costa 101
Lukaku 110
Son Heung-min 110
Nolito 117
Rashford 135
Coutiho 167
Zlatan 180

What's the point of Zlatan being a starter? Has no assists, slows down our play, gives away fouls, and the one thing we buy him for to score goals, he 50% worse than the top strikers in the league and his own team mate infact. What big team would have the line lead with such a poor striker. If we want to compete with the top in Europe, Zlatan is a waste of time.

Lol, no OP.

No full back protection at all when you're playing against Hazard. Isolate a 19 year old striker against 3 physical centre halves.

Zlatan & Rashford in a 2, Lingard on the right, allow Rashford to float out to the left wing and ask Herrera to get across and back up Shaw when Chelsea try to move down the left. Fellaini in the middle to impose ourselves on the game and be a big threat from set pieces and balls into the box against a big Chelsea team.

(Basic)
De Gea
Valencia Smalling Bailly Shaw
Lingard Fellaini Pogba Herrera
Ibrahimovic Rashford

(Attack)
----------Smalling Bailly----------
Valencia ----- Herrera ----- Shaw
------Lingard Fellaini Pogba------
----------Zlatan Rashford ---------

Of course not conceding an early goal is more important than any line up.
