Cap'n, would 3 Lions make us 3X as good?
Absolutely not. Scotland are a good team with great potential. Alas, the manager is incompetent and has squandered our best chance in qualifying in years.
The manager is a bit of a dud,the guy is completely out of his depth as Scotland manager and would be more suited as a pundit with BBC and wee Pat Nevin
At least the Republic of Ireland have a chance of going through. I was nervous after the game about our chances, but Slovakia getting humped off Armenia, means I am more confident about our chances.
But for Scotland, I see us struggling in Liechtenstein.
Exactly the same problems in England mate. A hyper critical media, disillusioned fans whose club loyalties affect their support, even what looks like a half empty Wembley on TV these days.
Personally I think the problem all home nations have is that we still think football is a contact sport whereas every other country has known that for at least the last decade that it isn't. So we're still producing players with great physical attributes: power, strength, pace etc. But in the modern game those first 2 are combatted with diving and the last is combatted with shirt pulling.
What you need now is technique, skill, vision and diving. Look at Barcelona, you literally can't get the ball off them because you can't tackle them (as they dive on even minute contact) and they never misplace a pass because of those first 3 qualities. This is what we should be teaching kids, however sickening it is to deviate from the traditional, honest contact sport that football once was.
The mistake you've made is caring about them.
Although out with the games themselves international weeks are tedious I still enjoy the games and will support Scotland regardless of manager and players.
I was jumping up and down when Miller scored on Saturday and Naismith last night and was gutted when the Czech's scored the penalty.
However I come from a time when we did regularly play in World Cups so that may have something to do with it.
if we stop with this 4-5-1 nonsense and get someone up-front to supply goodwillie we can get a result in Leichtenstein, and Spain aren't infallible, we can catch them on an off day, we had them on the ropes at Hampden
the Czechs had two difficult games to come too and they've been dropping points!
Celtic fans refusing to cheer because the winning goal was scored by a Rangers player
***********************************************
I cheered as loud as any time Celtic score.
I agree with the Rangers fans and Celtic players. Scott Brown has been getting pelters from the blue side despite getting Man of the Match. Just because he isn't a player of the Messi ilk. How dare he get man of the match for doing his job.
He is a very good holding midfielder. Celtic signed him when he was an attacking midfielder but he has shown where his true strength lies. Get behind your country people.
we've got Rangers fans booing the Celtic players in the squad
===
what a load of utter colin nish, so what if Scotland 'fans' boo the players? The thousand who turn up and pay good money to watch this dross are to be commended and have more than the right to vent their frustration at the players/ manager, tell how loud were the boos when celtic lost to St. Johnston at CP and at ICT last year and they were your own 'fans'. your hypocrisy know's no bounds
This was a scotland game, it had hee haw to do with rangers and celtic
I can watch England play as through-out the years they've always had some really classy players, but the media ruin any chance of a neutral routing for them and the "England Expect" mantra is one that will automatically turn any sports-friendly crowd into a baying mob!
England do under-achieve but with the unrealistic pressure on them it's hardly surprising, but that mentality that has got players questioning whether it's worth the hassle playing for their country is starting to seep over the boarder. and, again, i lay the blame firmly at the feet of the media
What the Celtic supporters are not "fans" because they booed their team after losing to Inverness?
Does that mean the Rangers supporters are not "fans" because they booed their team on Ally Mccoist's first game?
Obviously it does not!
Henry - you know it isn't p@sh! take a look at the message boards (not just this one), all the "scotland fans" who slate scott brown or why "scotland" fans are booing Forrest, and why "Scotland" fans can't cheer when Naismith scores
I know it's not all celtic and rangers fans - because we're not all that dumb - but to brush it off with a "nuffin to do wi' us guv" remark is just as bad
and there's a difference between booing because of a poor performance and booing players before they've even kicked a ball!
I was cheering like mad man when Naismith and likewise when Miller scored last saturday, whoever pulls on that Scotland shirt has my full support

Ban internationals and finish FIFA . While we're at it start an alternative European League and finish UEFA.
Henrik
i'm merely pointing that Scott Brown and other Celtic players have been boo'd by their own support which kinda ridicules the point about celtic players only ever being boo'd by Rangers fans when playing for the national team
Your point about Rangers fans booing? Yes they did boo the team however i think their boo's had as much to do with the performances in the league and Europe and as well as Craig Whyte's investment in the team or lack of.
i know it's difficult but do try and keep up...
Well I understand your point, I just thought the use of inverted commas around the word, fan was to try and say something about our supporters. I agree, everyone is entitled to boo.
He is a very good holding midfielder. Celtic signed him when he was an attacking midfielder but he has shown where his true strength lies. Get behind your country people.

scott brown has went backwards since he joined celtic, he was an exciting talent with bags of potential at hibs. between strachan and mowbry they have turned the boy into a heedless chicken who struggles to complete a 5 yard pass not to mention the amount of stupid fouls he gives away and bookings. and he is your captain
Not the biggest fan of Brown, but:
Smith, McLeish, Burley, Levein, Strachan, Mowbray and Lennon all seem to see something I do not.
I remember Scotland v Norn Iron in the 1990s, when John Collins, still at Celtic at that point, was getting booed from both sets of fans.
Says it all, really.

I'm not sure I believe that, to be honest.
