They don't usually go far because they don't see it as a priority.

On what basis do you draw this conclusion?

Would much rather win the league cup or fa cup then finish in the top 4, considering we have no chance of winning the champions league I'm not really bothered if we're in it at the moment.

I wouldn't fancy Newcastle. We know how good rafa is at setting up to nullify a certain team. Did it for years with us in the CL.

Rafa back at anfield with his Newcastle side would be a good night

You deserved the win tonight.

Newcastle are playing really well at the moment. Not sure a tie vs them would be the best thing. Winner of Leeds v Norwich would be nice though.

Reckon barca would give us Luis on loan for the night if we get Norwich?

posted on 25/10/16

wouldnt want a final vs rafa, dont want him to lose tbh. Id like an away match at Man utd next round, be awesome

Sorry OP but I think playing in the CL next week in front of 87,000 plus fans, takes priority over a last 16 game in a reserve team competition.

I'd be happy for rafa to lose. Wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

Spurs do not have Liverpool's winning DNA.

They have a loser's mentality

Chandler, while I agree with most of your comments, I would say that Spurs are a small team, but small only in the number in their squad. Other than that, Poch has made them into a top team.

If we didn't have Jurgen as our manager, Poch would be my next choice, and that's above Conte, or the City man.

Spurs fans make the mistake of focussing on one season.

Ask any club who they would rather play in a cup: Pool or Spurs

Top of my head, this season both rounds you played a much weakened team in the league cup. In the FA Cup last season you rested players when you eventually lost to Crystal Palace in the 5th round at home. Against Dortmund in the Europa League you sent out a B team in the first leg and lost by a large margin Which ultimately decided your team selection in the 2nd leg. Those are the ones that come immediately to mind.

Spurs are big game bottlers as evidenced by last season title 'challenge'. We'd all rather play Spurs than Liverpool in a final etc .... all day long

You put out a weakened side tonight as well! On that basis are we to assume you are not taking the Capotal one cup seriously?
Also last year, we were juggling three competitions. Any squad must be rotated.
When you played Dortmund you had no other priorities, hence the strong line up

What about Chelsea being 6 points clear in March 2014 then, with upcoming games against norwich, Sunderland, villa and palace, of which you won none.

Does the bottle tag apply to you?

They might take it seriously after they fail to win the title again, that's a lot of pressure to win something before it gets embarrassing for a club that want to be acknowledged as regular title and CL contenders. Are they really in any position to turn their nose up at it like Wenger used to do in cup comps. If tottenham carry on with this attitude they'll be going a decade without silverware? They have to win something before the end of next season to avoid it.

I agree Sandy playing CL at Wembley will be a great night for your fans. Every club would want an outing like that. Surely you can't put all your eggs in 1 basket! You want to win things. Hopefully for English football you go far in the competition but it's not a given as it is so tough. Why not win a League or FA Cup to help build a winning mentality and give the fans something to cheer about! For the last 2-3 weeks we've known Poch was going to play a reserve team tonight, whereas Klopp surprised us with such a drastic team change.

We rotated.

I wouldn't say a team containing our star striker, a 35 million midfielder, an extremely promising centre forward who has started for us in a euro semi final and our left back and goalkeeper from the previous season is really a weakened side. But each to their own I guess.
