He's actually been quite special this season. Problem is we're talking about 11 games only and I've certainly seen players having better 11 game spells than him. Comfortably better ones.

Yeah I agree. His start has been great but I think there are players this year who are on par with his start. His start during the 14/15 season was relatively slow to be honest, but he blew the teams away after christmas. What I'm interested to see whether he can do the same and go even further.

I'd say the football we played today was better than the football we played at the start of the 14/15 season
Tis that good
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We look a lot more balanced this year.
Even at the start of the 2014/15 season we did look susceptible. It was only really highlighted until we lost against Tottenham.
So far since we have changed formation, no team has looked a problem.
He was brilliant today. Also, the new role suits him better and definitely more effective than playing in the wing wings. He will probably score more goals than in 2014/15 season.

I wonder if Jose takes note of this.
Because United are seeing how Martial's form has dropped because of being forced to track back.
If Jose can give the wide players freedom the forward then I think United's season might actually kick off.

Potential wise he can be what Hazard is for Chelsea, Sanchez is for Arsenal and what Aguero is for City.
That real fear factor, that you almost need to put 3 men on to keep them quiet because of his combination of explosiveness, technical ability and physical prowess. They're all so talented on the ball, explosive, but also hard to knock off.
Martial has that same skill set and that's why we just have to get the most out of him because he can be our most dangerous player when he's at his best.

I agree
Martial looked much more comfortable pushed further forward last year.
I don't think his form this year is so much second season syndrome but more because of a change of management and tactics.
His first season at United was arguably even more impressive than Hazard's at Chelsea, and even as a Chelsea supporter I was excited to see him progress.
I feel if Mourinho would become less stubborn then we might see him back to his best. But part of me feels like Jose doesn't recognise his talents and might be okay with letting Martial go.
Jose wouldnt change his tactics imo. At his age, that would be like admitting defeat and going back on what made him such a good manager. The problem when you get older is, most people, in all walks of life, refuse to accept that there are different ways to do things and that those ways just can be just as successful as your old tried and trusted methods and in this case even better.
He is as good....difference is he's got half a dozen others doing it too

thats not true. he didnt score much at beginning of 14/15 but he put in some great performances.
its just cost and fabregas distracted people from how well hazard was also playing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No don't get me wrong, he played extremely well during the first half of the season like many of the players did.
However he really did step up the second half. I'm just hopeful Hazard will do the same this year and go further than he did that year.

Hazard may well get 20 PL goals plus this season...but I did like that he contributed across the whole pitch under Jose.
He is probably even more exciting now though.
I dont think he will become a Ronaldo/Messi type goalscorer, or even Suarez/Aguero....but he should be matching the likes of Robben/Bale/Neymar for goals imo.

Yeah I agree.
His performances the year he won PFA player of the year didn't not translate to the stats. Under this system though I think his performances could translate to goals.
He has already scored 7 goals this year, and today was probably the game we have seen him nearest to his best. A lot of the times before he was performing brilliantly but not scoring, this time it might be a little different.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wide cutting in (beats player) to score this season as he did in 14/15, so not strictly central.
More a case of Hazard seemingly improving his shooting and taking shots early rather than his supposed new role reinventing him. It's a mind/mentality thing with him.
I've always said how far Hazard wants to progress is down to him, let's see if he can keep it up (with the movement) or revert to default of feeble shots/looking like he can't shoot as season goes by (at crunch time) because as excellent as the team/individual performance is now, one would imagine it wont be plain sailing throughout.
I tell you what though...teams will find it challenging to figure out new system and combat the attacking overloads.
Whichever team manages to stop us creating chances/scoring and look convincing in attack against our defence will have their blueprint stolen.
Now I've seen how good our ability is to exploit space on counter.
Waiting to see if side can be as effective/productive in possession against deep compact sides, that leave little to no space to counter.
Boro away could be tricky next.
Was good to see Hazard say after the game yesterday too " When i score in the next game i will dedicate another goal " , confident he will score.
Oh, no European football midweek helps a lot if Conte is going to play same team week in, week out (up until FA Cup starts at least).
