Colonialism is always relevant.
It's the fundamental part of why large parts of the world are so rich and why others are so poor, which brings about why so many people are willing to be illegal immigrants in the first place.
Mexicans are not flooding into the US because they want to see the Grand Canyon. They are doing it because they are stupefyingly poor, and they know that even being poor and illegal in the US is still a step up.
The immigration debate is fexked up in reality.
Every thing gets lumped into one basket.
Truth is illigal immigrants should be thrown out as per the law of a country but unless they are caught engages in criminal activity govt turns a blind eye. Because deep down illigal.immigrant is a multi billion pound asset to the UK
When the debates start its easy for opposition to say they will get rid but once in power its hard so like Theresa may did before she became PM she put restrictions on foreign students and workers. Some people saw this as a good sign buy the impact of students not coming means less income for universities and thus higher fees for locals.
Knock on effects like this create hardship and everyone looks to blame someone and like brexit showed and trump election immigrants are shouting no more immigrants ffs.
Problem is our politicians left, right or whatever they are cants.

Stretty, Trump didn't have the majority. He had about a million less than Clinton. He got 26% of the total number of possible votes. He won only because of the electoral college vote system, which is what he said was rigged and biased. He said it should be scrapped, but if it didn't exist, he'd lose.
