Good player with a great attitude. Him and a proper DM alongside Pogba in midfield is what Man Utd need.
Been really happy with him, this season.... Thought he would struggle to get a spot under José but has been a 7 or 8 out of 10 in most every game. I think he can make that position his own, even for the tough games... Hopefully he is studying Carrick's positioning in training and games... Arguably the only thing he is lacking for the role.
Been much improved this season. He still has his faults, namely his lack of discipline and leaving us very open at the back. However he suits the role well against the less dominant sides.
I think we need a proper DM for the big games, but no reason he couldn't still be a part of a 3 with Pogba in those games.
Always felt there was a very talented player but for whatever reason just never got a fair run in the side and when ever he did get a game looked too eager to please and never got in the flow. This season he's been great and surprised me in the deeper role, but I'd still be interested to see what he can do further forward if we could ever bring in a quality regista for the future.
"lack of discipline and leaving us very open at the back"
Does he? The deeper role may not be his most suited role but I would never accuse him of lack of discipline. If anything he seems to be a player who is happy to follow instructions and try his best, he seems to be a rare breed of a footballer with a brain who is willing to listen and learn and always wanting to communicate with others.
Well he should have been sent off against Stoke, he was walking the line against Bournemouth too and he did get sent off against Burnley (fair enough he slipped).
He just seems a little eager in the tackle at times.
He does leave us open too, he simply doesn't have the natural instinct for a DM imo. Leicester had a few chances early on and he was one of the main reasons, then Chelsea tore us apart he was nowhere to be seen.
He was good against Liverpool but the whole side were very rigid that day, which would have helped.
I'm a huge fan and believe he has a lot to offer, he's also got a dirty side to his game that I like a lot.
Busby
But he isn't really operating as a DM, he's playing more as a regista which is why Jose has been playing Fellaini often to give that support. Yes he's eager and he isn't afraid to get stuck in but that doesn't mean he lacks discipline, more that he has a lot of passion which IMO is always great to see in any player.
Like mudd says, there is a little bit of a dirty side in him which is good to see, I wouldn't call that a lack of discipline.
I love a player who gets stuck in, but his tackle against Stoke was horrific, nobody likes to see that.
Anyway, I've pointed out the negatives of Herrera, he certainly has his positives and he's been very good this season. As you say he is the one who keeps the ball moving, problem is Carrick does that but also offers good defensive cover
Like I said, he works well for 70% of our games, which is great. I'd sooner see a three of Carrick, Herrera and Pogba in the big games.

No, the proper dm needs to be a good player too.

Henderson?
Maybe like William Carvalho or Kante.
Man Utd should totaly sign Kante
De Gea
Bellerin Bonucci Bailly Rodriguez
Kante
Herrera Pogs
Mkhitaryan Rashford Girezmann
My favourite utd player by a mile, the emotions he shows when we win a match late on is to up there
