So you don't know
The consensus is Rooney was wrong and has apologised. Just trying to figure out what the apology was for
It can't be for mingling with fans as Darren seems to suggest?
Think he makes a lot of sense tbh. It is a bit of a storm in a teacup

We live in a very jealous society. The last thing the average man on the street wants to see is a vastly overpaid footballer (they are all overpaid) having unshackled fun in public
Rooneys only mistake was that he was caught having fun. Do you think this is gonna widen or lessen the gap between the haves and have nots?
He was sentenced to a trial by public by the Sun newspaper and now is being bashed by a public who want blood for no other reason than that is the only 'power' they have.
It's total nonsense anyway, he was 7 days from his next game and the England lads were given time off.
We all know how having a few drinks is a great way to unwind and relax, it's good for the mental health, the adverse affects are immediate and very short lasting.
It sums up the gutter press that that filthy rag is only delighted to splash pics acorss the front page to demonise one fo their own for nothing.
Also it shows how the public can be such s they beg Rooney for a pic, I'd imagine he asked them to keep it private, a few shares on Whattsapp and the rag has the pics.
Im sorry but this is rediculous. If Rooney was truly bothered about getting back in the United team then he'd spend every waking hour at the training ground, or if injured in the gym doing what he can.
A small amount of alcohol can greatly effect a footballers performance, never mind getting off his face at 5am. He earns £300k per week and has not even come close to deserving it for 3 years now. The least he can do is actually put some effort in.
Can you imagine Ronaldo doing this? There's a reason why Ronaldo has just earnt a new 5 year deal and Rooney's second touch had been a tackle for 3 years.
Getting hammered 7 days before your next game hardly means you are jeopardising your chances of being fit for it

Absolute nonsense, who are you to say what Rooney shoudl or shouldn't do?
And stop with the lies that a small amount of booze can drastically affect a footballers performance, maybe if it's the night before, or if he's doing shots during agame, but 7 days? Sounds to me like you've never had a drink in your life if you think like this.
He turned up for training the next day, all the other players had time off and were out in various places Rooney was just unlucky some cant took a pic and it was printed.

He gets paid £300k per week and makes absolutely zero contribution of late. Him not drinking is the least fans can expect who pay upwards of £40 a game to watch him kick it out for a throw in because Valencia isn't playing.

His wage is irrelevant, he did the same as the rest of the England squad and a few pints on Sat is not the reason he isn't the same player he was, you what a big reason for that is? United spending 30 million on a teenager, playing him 45 plus times a season, he has given everything he has to win trophies for a moany cants like you
Do you drnk?
This is utter nonsense from self-appointment moral custodians in certain sections of the media. So, in the context of super-rich footballers (who are still just as human as everyone else) the definition of ‘professionalism’ now includes adults not being able to do what they want in their own time. Rooney has f@ck all to apologise for in my eyes. Ridiculous.
Just as crazy is the report that Jose was livid that the FA babysitters didn’t take better care of him (granted could well be more BS, but Jose has form for clumsily directed righteous indignation).
To behonest I was annoyed he apologized and how Sky News were reporting it like it was a major transfer story.
I'm no Rooney fan him being ablue before united and all but I'd love to have seen him say "so what, had a great laugh"
Totally agree with Fletcher. Maybe Rooney shouldn't have drunk what he had but my point has always been I don't really care and that the reaction to it is been way over the top. He was naive and should have realised how the media works but in terms of what he actually did it was very minor.
Paul McGrath used to drink a naggin on his way to the ground on match days, won PFA player of the year and almost dragged Villa to a league title FFS.
But a glass of shandy 7 days before a game will ruin a player
