No point writing an article it'll just be full of wums
Totally agree with you btw
Especially with Toby out too. Criminal from poch
Looks like as a club we are just going for cl for the money like Arsenal. I suppose in a way we haven't much chance of winnning it so does it matter if we go out at group or second round? In levys mind? And then prioritise league to make sure we qualify again for the money?

The problem is that we rest these players for Chelsea but will probably drop points anyway.
So you look back and think... Why TF did we bother resting them?
Totally agree. Indefensible.
What's perhaps worse is the message it sends out to current and potential players whilst we're out there peddling this "we're a Champs League club". Are we fack.
What potential players? Not as if we'd even attempt to sign anyone of any quality or pedigree anyway so they wouldn't be fussed
Glad people agree. Somebody made the point - what must players like Vertonghen and Walker be thinking.. slugging it out to get into the CL only to sit on the bench and watch this?
It's as bad as the Dortmund selection last year. I don't like this common theme emerging..
Poch confirmed that Toby not fit for Chelsea.
So look forward to Dier & Wimmer part two on Saturday
I don't understand how someone like Trippier doesn't play a minute against Sunderland but will bench Walker in a CL match.
Anyway, it falls on deaf ears.
The team played tonight was stronger than I thought it would be. If the gimp Son had taken that chance like he should it may have been a different outcome.
We screwed ourselves over with the way we played prior to this game, leaving us so much to do.
Let's hope that we can lift the spirits now with a good result against Chelsea. PL must be a priority now. Europa can fack off!
Shows how much we miss toby and vert.
Guess toby is out for the Chelsea game too
I wasn't unhappy when I saw the line up for tonight.
Eriksen needed dropping, Alli has sat out a couple of games, Son has had a decent goalscoring record this season, Winks deserved his shot.
Anytime you see stats of 60 odd % possession the TL defence shouldn't be under as much pressure as it was.
Was a shocking performance in a must win game, the players should have stepped up far more than they did!
But the selection know paper was ok by me without the join of hindsight.
The selection, bar the defence, was fine by me.
The decision to play Wimmer with Dier and Trippier instead of Walker was what I was unhappy with.
It was nearly as bad as playing Mason and Carroll as the midfield two against Dortmund.

Trippier and Davies have played way way too much football in the CL this season, I haven't checked but I'm sure they have played the majority of matches.
We had CL this season yet we signed nobody we couldn't have signed without the CL. Genius that
How is toby still injured. wasn't he supposed to only be out for a couple games. he's been out for like a month now ffs!!!
in my opinion chelsea away is the bigger game, but if it were me naming the side, then i would have played both of them

Free to your opinion but it shouldn't be the bigger game. This was must win (or must not lose) or we were out. Chelsea - we can afford to lose and still make top 4 - its still november! There's no way we're gonna win the league, and tbh we will lose on Sat. The players already have an excuse of saying we had a midweek fixture

weare, i know you aren't very bright mate, but try to keep up.
in my opinion its the bigger game because i always make the league number 1 priority unless we are in a cup final or maybe a semi final. this is simply my opinion. i do not run the club or the team, and have no imput in the selection of the players or the priorities of the club
i said i would have gone full strength too. getting out the group was one of my goals for the season, but basically means you pretty much delay elimination by a round, maybe two rounds at best until you play an elite side which would knock us out.
however, as last season showed, this premier league is actually winnable if you don't play like caaants. we are 4 points off top, lose omn saturday and it becomes 7 points, and i don't believe we can bridge that gap.
also, i don't put cl above fa cup win…. i said thats what the players prefer. players want cl football, not fa cups and league cups…….. in my opinion
I entirely agree with you Edbo.
I would really like Poch to explain why he rested key players for the biggest game of our season. I appreciate that we have injuries and a busy schedule but this was the biggy. It makes no sense to spend years trying to get in the CL and then not taking it seriously when you get there.
It baffles me.
As does why some of our players can look like world beaters one week and not turn up the next.
Gutted today.
I had my suspicions after the first couple of CL games this campaign, but yesterday selection confirmed it. This campaign was purely about the CL money rather than any attempt to progress in the comp. Our spending over the last window isn't of a club preparing for a serious attempt at the CL. Winks for example, as good as his debut was the other day, has no place on the pitch in such an important game.
I guess it makes financial sense to just collect our £30 odd mill for participating. This approach is Levy sanctioned without doubt
Poch didn't play a full strength side all tournament
That says it all. Prem is the priority
