I can never quite work this award out.
PERSONALITY, I dont think Jamie has a great personality, even less so after reading the book.
His advisor should have been on hand to sensor some of the comments. When he matures 50 years of age or beyond, he may wish he hadnt published it.
Murrey has no great personality but the Brownlees have enough for two.
I also think that if the Team dont win the 'team of the year' award, there's something wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely the awards are for being the best sports personality of the year i.e a household name etc. rather than being good at telling jokes and having a good persona etc...
"..."..............".......................................................

I can understand what the award is for, but believe a different wording would be more apt.
Nigel Mansell had very little personality, Kevin Keegan had loads.
Both were nominated.
Maybe Sports achiever of the year would be a more suitable title.
Andy Murray has developed his personality and has achieved the mantle with results quite exceptional, thus deserving the honour.

Yes the name of the award is taken from the other meaning of the word personality , so to avoid confusion for many I think you are right.

Also another reason footballers get a raw deal is the kind of pressure they're under. Almost everyone in the country loves someone like Jess Ennis, Mo Farah, even Andy Murray these days. Whereas there are always idiots who will hate on footballers because of their club allegiance, for example when Liverpool won the CL I bet there were loads of United fans who blocked Gerrard from winning.

Same thing will probably happen to Vardy with Spurs fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't be stupid. Other than last season when we were in a title challenge together Spurs fans don't really care about Leicester City or what they or their players do. In fact if you take off the blinkers you're wearing there are a few who want to see Leicester do well as do many other neutrals. Man United and Liverpool are historic rivals so it's a different matter.

Well it's a British award so why not give it to a tennis player who is really proud to be British ....

.... like Aljaz Bedene?

Aljaz Bedene isn't a personality though i.e he isn't famous.

Clearly irony isn't always appreciated.

Murray supports an independent Scotland and has no personality. He is, however, a truly brilliant tennis player who carried the British Davis Cup team on his back.

On sporting merit he definitely deserves it, but I personally can't get as excited by his achievements as I might others. Someone who better represents me and also presents less petulance and arrogance and more warmth and depth.

A Brownlee or one of the Kennys would make much better role models for this award in my humble opinion, but isn't it down to your own personal taste?
