And to think Debuchy was our first choice!
Unbelievable player and even though he gets his plaudits I still feel he is underrated. If he was at Barca or Madrid he would be considered on of the best defenders in the world.
His is just sooo strong in every aspect of the game and then also soo consistent my fav player bar non.
So glad he's not playing on the left anymore. While he can play there it was definitely holding him back, he looks much better on the right of a three.
Defensively great, glad he's been playing at CB and not shoe horned into wingback. Hell, with a good partner who works in tandem with him, he could probably do it as a CB in a 4 at the back formation very well.
He's just one of those players who when caught in a one on one with an attacker I don't panic. He might not necessarily win the ball but he'll show the player to the wrong side and hold up fluidity while reinforcements arrive. Of course he's not adverse to just picking a pocket either.
A fantastic defender to be able to call on, his consistency makes him a managers dream!
Didn't have his best game yesterday. Made a few mistakes and lost the ball in areas you don't want to lose it. But as you said he is our best defender and has been for a few seasons.
