In my opinion Kane works extremely hard in the team in both attacking and defending. He is someone we have clearly missed. As for his mobility which i think is fine and pace, could be a little better if we are really nit-picking. What he lacks there he makes up on skill and natural goal instinct.
On everything rounded his age, what they have achieved personally (not on club level) I would choose Kane. Harry has been consistently scoring what looks to be 3 seasons now. Golden Boot last year. Better Potential.
But all Spurs fans will say that. All Arsenal will say Sanchez. Are you going to do a Toby Vs Kosc one too??
I've never been convinced by Kane and he keeps proving me wrong. For some reason I just expect the goals to dry up, in the same sort of way that I expected Leicester to eventually stop winning, but its not happened so fair play to him
His England performances to me suggest that maybe he fits really well into the Spurs side and will always do it for them, but may not have as much luck if he moves elsewhere and has to adapt a bit more.
That said, I don't watch Kane much and it seems like every other goal is a pen, but my opinion could be way off on limited viewing.
Obviously it's Sanchez for me without a doubt, maybe it'd be closer if I wasn't biased for Arsenal though!

I don't mean this to be a sanchez and kane comparison- I'm asking whether you view kane as good enough to be your long term first choice striker.
With regards to what you say about kane, I don't deny that he works hard but work rate should be a given for any premier league level striker.
In terms of his technical attributes, I don't really agree that his particularly skillful- yes he has a pretty good first touch, but I see his dribbling ability as below the level required to be a top class striker. I find it hard to picture him flying past people the way aguero and sanchez do and also whilst he's fairly good in tight spaces, his ball manipulation and speed of thought/ trickiness in these situations is again not on the level of suarez/ aguero and alexis.
Then you have the issue of not much pace.
Of course kane scores goals but personally I believe that's just because you have a good team and give him good service although of course there's some skill from him in getting into the positions.
To me he is a player who when the service isn't good will have little impact on the game as he rarely produces 'something out of nothing'( of course he has such as against us).
Yes he's good but I don't see him as the striker to win you the league/ take you far in the champions league and I assume that those are spurs' goals these days. Most if not all teams who do those 2 things have a striker who the rest of the team know they can rely on to produce something amazing when required.
For me kane is not that man.
This isn't FIFA, there's more to it than just pace and mobility in order be a good striker. Shearer is the all time leading goalscorer and he wasn't any faster or mobile than Kane is. More recently, Ibrahimovic has been one of the world's best strikers and he isn't fast either.
Kane has scored 20+ goals in the league for the last two years and likely to do the same this year. So of course he is good enough for the long term if he can continue in this trend.
Should Arsenal hypothetically swap Kane for Sanchez? No way. Sanchez is the better player overall and suits Arsenal's style of play.
Shearer and sherringham had no pace and they are regarded by many as certainly in the top 10 prem strikers of all time. Clearly you don't watch much of Kane OP if you think his game is just about scoring. He has fantastic ability on the ball and is able to shield/hold up the ball brilliantly in tight spaces and pretty much comes out with the all almost all the time. Has a brilliant 1st touch and eye for the pass ( although he is a little selfish at times ) but has a teddy sherringhan esque about him. Fantastic shooting ability and heading accuracy. Scores goals against all the big clubs and in the important games. Kane is one of the best strikers in the league.
"Ok he is 'good' but I mean is he good enough to be your first choice striker in the long term?"
I'll be perfectly honest and say that I don't think too far ahead in footballing terms, probably about 3 years, so I've got no idea if he will or won't be. I'm always hopeful that we'all find the best youths across Europe/the world so on that note as good as Kane is, I'd have no issues if we went and unearthed someone better.
Yes I think so but I just wish he wouldn't go missing for spells like 7m matches without a goal. He also misses sitters which worries me. I seriously don't recall Chivers missing a sitter.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I don't know much about football in the 90s but didn't shearer and sherringham play with a striker partner rather than as a lone striker? This is important as in a 4 4 2 when playing with a faster striker lack of pace isn't much of an issue since the slower striker isn't required to make runs in behind.
To be a top lone striker though I see the ability to run in behind as very important, if not a necessity. If the centre forward lacks the ability to run in behind then attacks often become bottle necked. This has been a recurring theme with giroud although I admit Kane whilst not fast or mobile is still much more so than giroud.
Of course the inability to run in behind doesn't make a striker useless, as they can still receive the ball and either play it to the winger/full back in behind or can play it to their feet and then get into the box to receive crosses and be dangerous that way. Relying on crosses is not the way to play in the long term though, as there is a fair amount of luck involved.
When you have a fast and mobile striker who can run in behind and beat players with ease there are definitely more attacking possibilities due to the runs taking opposition players out of their defensive shape. I'm not claiming that there are no examples of successful lone strikers without much pace or mobility, but they're the exception and in general it is a requirement to be a top lone striker. Players like ibrahimovic have done it so I'm not saying that kane won't, although ibrahamivoc has always played in teams you'd expect to win the league anyway.
Another consideration is that at psg for example there were faster wingers than you use.
The combination of kane and your wingers will leave you too blunt to win the league or go far in the champions league in the near future in my opinion.
If I was picking a 9 long term, it would be Kane out of anyone in the PL. His age being a big factor here too.
Not to say he is the most naturally talented of the players available, but barring explosive pace I think he ticks all boxes you want from a centre forward, and would comfortably fit in to any side.
Altbough pace off the mark is an issue, once running with the ball he is no slouch. Goals come from tap ins, headers, either foot and outside the box.
On course for another 20+ campaign again, after giving everyone his customary headstart
Kane has pretty much everything you'd want from your 'ideal' striker, with the exception of devastating pace. He's a good passer of the ball, good vision, quick thinker, great striker of the ball, good in the air, strong etc...
To pick out the lack of pace as a question mark on his overall potential is a strange one. It'd be like querying whether Sanchez is good enough to be striker because he's not very tall so won't win many headers...
Yes we can't play 'Leicester style' and boot the ball over the defence and let our whippet striker latch onto it, but that's about it.
I wouldn't swap Kane for Sanchez, and quite rightly - no Arsenal fan would swap Sanchez for Kane. Two brilliant players who offer very different abilities.
Kane may not have pace but his got a great footalling brain.
He reminds me of a cross between sheringham and shearer.
Is he better than Sanchez ?, I couldnt really say there both diffrent players completley.
Kane.s game is based on getting a yard on a apponant where as sanchez is just pure pace and power.
I don't think Kane is better than Sanchez, but Kane is top quality and wouldn't trade him for anyone else, and he is good enough to be a longterm striker, I hope.
Basically, at worst he'll be another Robbie Fowler, who starts off scoring loads of goals but deteriorating early on and while being a useful striker for the rest of his career, never fulfilling the early promise. While, at best he'll be another Shearer who will just keep scoring plenty of goals throughout his career. But with Fowler, he was a pacey player who suffered injury and it ruined him. At least with Kane he doesn't have any pace to ruin to begin with, and he strikes me as someone who will work hard to improve. Not all too sure Fowler was like that.
Sanchez was getting pelters from many Arsenal fans last season on here. Giving the ball away cheaply and being a bit of a headless chicken was the gist I think.
I think he is quality myself, their standout player. One I would take in a heartbeat, straight in our XI in place of any of our other attacking players....albeit not at 9
Yes, he is young with potential and he is proven that he is suitable for the premier league.
Fair enough all of you . It's good to hear that you all rate him so much as he seems the most likely to be England's main striker in the coming years and obviously you all see him more than me.
For now I'm not convinced that's his all round game is not that of a true top class striker but if he wins you the league in the next few seasons then I would probably have to revise my opinion.
I see your attack as a unit as a bigger obstacle to you winning the league than the defence though as you are clearly very solid at the back overall.
Do you all agree with this? If not what do you see as needing to change for you to win the league? Or do you think that you can win it this season with the current team?

Form.
Simply that, Eriksen has all the necessary qualities but has been shocking bar the past couple of games.
Son started well, then terrible, looked good last game though.
Lamela and Kane is/was missed and Dele a shadow of last year.
Dembele was colossal last year but yet to be as dominant this year.
When these players were missed or not performing, the bench isn't strong enough to come in and take their place.
Janssen looks a trier but not happening yet, Winks looks a great talent but finding his feet, NKoudou is unknown but has talent but not yet done much of note. And Sissoko is at the club, but that's it.
Our first 11 is good enough when on form. But lack of form and bench will leave us short of a title team unless every anomaly goes in our favour.

In terms of his ability as a lone striker, yes it will take more than 14 games to convince me that he's the real deal there.
As an all round player though he's already proven himself to be top,top quality over a long period of time. The man just this year won the player of the tournament in the copa america while taking his team to glory. He also won it last year while being a key figure. He's already proven his ability as a player but yes I still am reserving judgement on him as a striker.

He did have quite a lot of poor moments especially in the first half. That's how it goes with alexis though as he takes so many risks with his passes and just general decisions such as where to take his first touch. Of course the risks don't always come off and that's why his games are usually a mixture of some amazing things and some terrible things. That's fine by us though as when the risks come off they often lead to goals. For example the first touch he took for his first goal was what made the goal but if the defender had read the turn and won the ball then west ham would've had a great chance.

*not that convinced that his all round game IS that of a top striker

Fair enough all of you.

Are you reserving judgment on Sanchez until he wins you the league?

In terms of his ability as a lone striker, yes it will take more than 14 games to convince me that he's the real deal there.
As an all round player though he's already proven himself to be top,top quality over a long period of time. The man just this year won the player of the tournament in the copa america while taking his team to glory. He also won it last year while being a key figure. He's already proven his ability as a player but yes I still am reserving judgement on him as a striker.

My friend a gooner said Sanchez was actually poor on Saturday. Wonder how he came to that conclusion?

He did have quite a lot of poor moments especially in the first half. That's how it goes with alexis though as he takes so many risks with his passes and just general decisions such as where to take his first touch. Of course the risks don't always come off and that's why his games are usually a mixture of some amazing things and some terrible things. That's fine by us though as when the risks come off they often lead to goals. For example the first touch he took for his first goal was what made the goal but if the defender had read the turn and won the ball then west ham would've had a great chance.
