I'm not writing him off. I just think he lacks certain technical elements and I said this last season as well. I don't think he would get in our team at the moment either.

I actually agree that he wouldn't get into the Liverpool team at the moment.

As for technical elements? His technical ability was immense last season and that goal vs Palace is the showcase of that.

No. Yes it was a nice couple of flicks for that one goal, however, I think his first touch can be found wanting but that is more about his technique. I don't think he can manipulate a ball though really.

Technically I think you can see he comes from the lower leagues. Where his first touch takes him and especially his second. He has the balance to get him out of trouble but he can be caught in possession as a result. Also I think his short passing can be poor especially if it's a one touch pass.

Robbing

I think you are being a little harsh but yes his first touch has been awful since the Euros and has a habit of being caught in possession.

I think he has the technical ability and certainly the potential, he is just in a bad patch of form, like most of our team tbh.

What I will say about him though is that he has a real hunger for the game I reckon. He wants to be good and I think he knows he has to work hard to get there. He won't be bullied either and mentally I think he is as tough as they come in modern football and I think that could help him reach his ceiling.

I'm just not sure how high that ceiling is yet.
