did either win you over? I didn't see the point in booing Rafa etc. I still don't get it.

I think for managers I've been for/quite open minded, except Rafa and Jose second time round but not like I was proven wrong.

Players there's a few..Luiz, Cahill, Courtois(random I know but at time I wanted club to focus on likes of Blackman and Delac ). Other than that perhaps the only incoming transfer I was against was Torres and at least proved right on that.

yes they both did for different reasons...

Jose for being so good

Rafa for being so dignified

Ancelotti because i wasn't convinced by his league record or him as a tactician and felt his teams get complacent easily, he won me over with the double but all my fears with him were realized in the second season even worse than i feared initially.

Adebayor, won me over briefly before reappearing as the caant I always thought he was

Obviously Rafa.

Hurst, Bobby Campbell, Porterfield

Can't think of a signing that we have made that I didn't want that has won me over.

Never really wanted Fellaini but he has never fully won me over despite some good games and moments.

Jose is the first manager we've gotten that I've truly wanted since SAF left. Was happy enough with LVG but only because he was the best available.

Players I've wanted that have been a let down. Do Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Depay and that's only recent years.

Poch. Not that I didn't rate him but wanted one of the other managers that were rumoured with our club at the time.

In terms of players I can't really think of any; maybe Sissoko if he ever comes good.......

Riise - Saw an interview with him when he signed and I took an instant dislike to him!

Hyypia - didn't dislike him but was very underwhelmed at the time, had never heard of him and we were crying out for a top class CB. Turned out he was exactly what we needed.

Houllier - wasn't keen at all but he did well.

In terms of players that really disappointed:

Kewell
Ince
Collymore (seriously, I thought he'd be great)
David James (again, thought he'd be world class )

Didn't want Woy. Nothing to do with how it turned out, just didn't want Rafa to go. If you add owners to the list OP then H&G all day

Players to win me over;
Zlatan - more so at other clubs, I used to feel he was over-rated
Valencia - I went from rating him as a winger, to hating him as a full back. to thinking he's actually okay now

Two that stand out in our current squad

Jose and Rafa.

Jose won me over of course but he lost me after last season though I will always be grateful and respect his achievements.

Rafa never won me over, I have no real issues with him or anything he may have said about us in the past, I simply never wanted him and still would not want him.

I remember this board was very anti Ancelotti which is absurd really. I recall making an article "Ancelotti - the case for" because it got so ridiculous, people were just drawing unfounded comparisons with Scolari.

Not that I was against Azpilicueta, I didn't really know much about him but I was annoyed we didn't opt for Debuchy, how wrong I was.

Have to say I never appreciated Milner before he signed for us. I think he's the sort of reliable player that you only appreciate once he's playing for your club. I also disliked Sturridge before he came to Anfield, but of course he won me over almost immediately. Mascherano as well, thought it was a bizarre signing at the time given how little he played for West Ham, but he was a colossus for us.

Can't really think of many counter-examples. Aquilani maybe, but he had so many injuries it's basically impossible to judge. Joe Cole seemed like a decent signing at the time, turned out his best years were well and truly behind him.

Harry Kewell - I thought he would be brilliant for us. He wasn't. Whimp.

Paul Ince - Couldn't stand him. Never changed my mind though!

I hated Cantona at Leeds...He did manage to win me over though!

Great original post.

Didn't want Wenger. Players I didn't want off the top of my head are;

Henry (skinny failed winger from Juve)
Arteta (poor man's Fabregas)
David Seaman (we had John Lukic at the time)
Alan Smith (lanky Lineker side-kick from Leicester)
Danny Wellbeck (nice lad but poor stats at Utd)
Lucas Perez (who?)

Players I wanted but were crap/disappointing

Andrei Arshavin (fat, lazy oddball)
Mickey Silvestre (well past his sell by date)
Davor Suker (again well past his sell by date)
David Platt (did ok but not great)
Thomas Vermaelen (looked a real monster of a CB but often injured)
