We, along with anyone else that had seen him the previous 18 months realised that he wasn't even a quarter of the player he was pre injuries. 50 million.

Its an odd one with Fernando. When he was banging them in for fun at Anfield its because we were set up to counter attack with Torres as the main focal point. Masch would win the ball for Alonso. Alonso in turn would release Gerrard with a fantastic pass who would feed Torres in. Because of that he had the confidence to try and be creative - the goal against Blackburn springs to mind. You could tell he was enjoying himself out there.
For Chelsea to get the best out of him you would think they would have to build a team around him. Theyve started to do this with the signings of Mata who could play Torres in and Merieles who can find Mata. But by building a team around Torres youve got to be 100% his injuries are behind him, if not you need a plan B which is a different formation for when he's not in the team.
This is where Benitez fell down as he didnt have that plan B.
