Didn't do as badly as often said as England manager. In the 1994 world cup qualifying W5 D3 L2 wasn't that bad considering several key players were out injured and the attack was centred around an overweight Gascoigne in steep decline; we were rather unlucky that Norway showed an almost unheard of dominance in the group.
The press never forgave him for substituting Lineker in the Euros 2 years earlier in Lineker's final match, when he only needed 1 goal to equal Charlton's record.
Real sad about GT.
He was a wonderful Villa manager and helped rescue us when we were in his words a shambles.
He signed 3 of the greatest players to ever wear the Villa shirt, McGrath, Platt & Yorke.
Some of the best times I have had following the Villa.
Gutted
RIP Graham
An incredible manager, he could hold court with anyone, whether it be a bunch of millionaire footballers or a group of poorly kids at the Children's Hospital. A true gentlemen, wise and charismatic, who held himself with amazing dignity in the most difficult of circumstances.
Our Club was clearly very dear to him, and we owe him a lot.
Thanks for everything, GT.
RIP
