IMO hes good when hes fresh and this season with his injuries and Alexis up front hes had plenty of time off. He looked poor last season during that 10 game plus spell as he was played non-stop.

IF Welbeck and Theo werent missing i think Wenger would have rotated more.

Wenger rotating more?

Good one!!

Of course he's made people look foolish. He's only in his 5th season with us, and is well on course for 100 goals in all competitions. Bloody decent return for less than 10 million quid.

How many of those are league goals? That is where Arsenal falters, in my opinion

Who's he made look stupid?

Maybe if he can keep it up until the end of the season but we've seen him on good runs of form before. The problem is they are usualy followed by longer spells of awful form. I will be very surprised if Giroud hits 20 goals in the league in any season ever.

In fact, if he can be his previous best of 16 league goals this season I will change my name to "Giroud is better than I thought" and if he get 20 I will change it to "I was wrong about Giroud" even though that is not really enough to justify such a strong statement. I'm sure I wont have to though.

That goals from 10 mil would be fantastic for a mid-table club.

Clearly what Arsenal fans want is a striker made for highest level.

Roughly 15 a season. Not too shabby IMO.

In 2 and a half seasons Kane has scored 79 goals. We need somebody with that strike rate up front. Not saying to sell Giroud because he's a great plan B. The problem is that it's taken 4 years for him to no longer be plan A.

Giroud IS plan A atm.

He's played his way into the team. Can't be dropped atm although I prefer Alexis up front

People comparing him too much with players we had in the past. He is completely different type of player and has qualities that we never had before but on the negative side lacks the quality that players provide us in the past. Think over the years he managed to improve massively on his technique.

I think Giroud gets far too much stick, always have done.

He is not Marco Van Basten, but he is a good PL 9 with a solid scoring record and would be an asset to any squad in the division

Don't believe in this plan A, B, C shiiiit because it all depends on the performance of the team on that day.

He has always got more stick than he deserves, he should be no more than 2nd choice but Wenger kept him as the main man for years. That isn't Giroud's fault, he has done more than I expected, he only cost £10m which is nothing really. People who said he should be sold were/are daft.

To the OP, the "cause" of his form is that he's actually a very decent player, he's scored plenty of goals in every year he's been with us.

He also missed a load of chances and went on dry spells; this season he has scored several times with his first touch or shot, something he rarely did. His efficiency has increased from past seasons, from what I've seen.

"What has spurred his current scoring?"

Always does well when his place in the team is under threat, just like last year & the year before. Will revert back to his usual form once it's secured for another season. Very selfish guy.

But what does it mean? The guy needs competition and pressure to get the best out of him. He is looking for that pressure himself because he is not running away, sulking and whining about his situation. He keeps on going and this is in general an attidute all players should have.

Agree GT even when he's on the bench he rarely moans or leaks stuff to the press, just gets on with it and takes his chances.

Just a shame he can't do it a bit more consistently. His goalless run last year (15 games?) was just horrific.

Well....I dont think you cant blame him for that alone. You see when he scores now. It has to do with the him not having enough traffic around him.

The entire team was horrific. 42mil superstar CAM was utter crap. We had 2 players who played well during that spell, Monreal and Coquelin. EVERYBODY else was terrible, even Sanchez was poor by his standards. But the hate campaigners only ever talk about how Giroud didn't score. As though the rest of the team were all brilliant behind him. They weren't and collectively THEY are more to blame for his lack of goals during that spell, than him. It is after all the quality of their play dictating the chances he gets.

The 15 game thing is mis-represented. It isn't as if he was starting every week, after 5 games without a goal (the second of which he was subbed after 20 minutes due to Pers red) but assists in a couple of games, he was dropped. Then he got back in for the last 5, scoring 4 and assisting twice.

Not exactly horrific in my opinion.
