Does boxing not have an equivalent charge to football's 'bringing the game into disrepute'?

This kind of behaviour, which is far from unique, turns me right off the sport to be honest. The whole enterprise just comes across as a cabal of petty thugs nowadays.

It's considered trash talk and it's a crucial aspect of combat sports.

Apart from Angel garcia, there isn't any individuals in the sport that spout the sorts of things he does. Don't judge the sport by one man's actions. Boxing has had an explosive beginning to 2017. We had a superb fight between degale and jack a few weeks ago and we have santa cruz vs frampton this week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no problem with trash talk. I do have a problem with overtly racist and homophobic comments.

And he's not the only one. How about Tyson Fury? Another bigoted prikk.

Then you have unrepentant criminals like Mayweather Jr and Tyson still lauded as icons by the sport's institutions and fans.

I want to like the sport. It's basic; it's raw; it's exciting. But it's gonna turn a lot of people off if it doesn't demonstrate it's committed to joining the rest of the world in the 21st century.

Can you imagine.....

I'm not a fan of Gary Glitter the man, I'm not a friend or an acquaintance of his, I'm just some one that enjoys what he brings to the Music. Likewise with Jimmy Savile. Whether they are unrepentant or not has no bearing on what they achieved in the entertainment industry.

You are pathetic, your views just show how little value you have for rape and domestic abuse victims.

You make fair points.

I'd just like to see the authorities making it clear that boxing is a professional sport, and that like any profession, there are standards to be adhered to for all those wanting to participate.

I love sport. Just about all sport. Part of my love for it is the difference it can make in kids' lives; in their health, in their social development, in their opportunities and dreams. Sport was a massive part of my life as a kid and helped shape me.

All sports I would like to see setting professional standards that work to ensure their participants and other representatives follow a code of respect. Boxing (and I'm not talking about elite professional boxing here, obviously) historically has provided a fantastic outlet to kids particularly from less privileged backgrounds, teaching them amongst other values mental and physical discipline, fairness, and respect for officials and your opponent.

Not every boxer is going to be a perfect role model. But kids will look up to those at the top of the sport. And I'd like to see the governing bodies give a clear message about sporting and boxing's founding principles, and acting in accordance with that message when people bring the name of the profession into disrepute.

All boxers have that 'thug' gene imo, though some are clearly worse than others. Why else would you choose to punch people for a living?

Many of the boxers I've watched over the years would be in jail if the sport didn't exist. Not all obviously.

Yet you have the temerity to idolise a boxer who stated homosexuals are worse than animals.

Pacquiao said no such thing.
He was saying we as human beings, not specifically gay people.

And the right to religious belief is a fundamental human right.

And are you equating words to such henious crimes such as rape, and domestic abuse.

A pathetic excuse, and you feel no shame for it

I love reading D4's excuses for Pacman, he twists and turns like a twisty turny thing in the wind, secretly hating himself every time he has too knowing he put himself in the corner

"If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals.”

word for word what he said. Then made a backhanded apology saying he was wrong to say it but still thats his beliefs.

You cannot use religion as an excuse, I suppose you also excuse ISIS in their actions and what they say based on their "religious beliefs".

No like you to make a clown of yourself on here D4 tho !

Those are henious actions that have no place in religion, Pacquiao is just expressing his religious views.

Maybe you are against freedom of speech as well

He never said that, find the video and you will see you are wrong.

People have a right to express their religious views. It's is very different from acts of violence.

ISIS are expressing their views of how they think islam should be conducted and followed.

Face it mate. You are making excuses for your hero. Anyone who thinks gay s are worse than animals just because its written in a 2000 year old book should have no right to free speech
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they are not. And Pacquiao never said that. You don't believe in free speech then you fascist.

It is writen in quran that it is ok to stone women to death for adultry. You must think this is ok because uts an expression of religious views?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Expressing a view is one thing doing the act is another, don't conflate the two
