New players, on paper the best midfield in Championship, yet absolutely useless. Outplayed by a rubbish Brentford team. Seems to be with Villa doesn't matter which manager we have, which players, which league we are still woeful. Don't know what Randy Lerner did but he seems to have caused such a rot that it seems almost irreversible to change what he did.

I just can't believe what I'm watching. I honestly thought we would hammer Brentford tonight. Why don't they close down? Why don't they finish one on one chances? Why do they **** around with the ball in their own half and give opportunities to opposition? Why do they hoof it at every opportunity & give the ball straight back when we have good passing midfielders? So many questions, no valid answers.

Agree Brentford look a decent championship side.

While we have Hutton in the side we are weak.

Still 45 mins to go but on that display 3-0 looks likely.

It is such a shame to watch us nowadays lets hope we stay up

Think we may have started off too positively. With a completely new midfield it would have made sense to play it tight and let the players get to know each other. This is a team game. This one may be down o Bruce.

God help us. Brentford are not even anywhere near the top of this league and we've made them look amazing. We have stooped so low the last few years but this is the lowest I have felt in a long time, mainly because I thought we were coming good again with the signings we've made.

I'm super worried. Bruce's experience suggests he will get it right but we look worse under him at the min than we did under RDM. If things don't improve soon he'll be under massive pressure.

Playing well for your club? Got potential to be a great player? Come to Aston Villa where we guarantee you'll turn into a pile of **** and forget how to actually play football. But don't worry, we'll make sure you pick up a healthy pay packet every month (even if you can't open your electric gates)

Aston Villa. Where nightmares are made of.

In all seriousness, we need to give Bruce until the end of the season, but our squad now is one of the strongest in the division along with Newcastle.

We need to be showing some consistently strong performances soon and focus on promotion next year.

Why does everyone turn absolutely rubbish once they come to Villa? Hourihane has been brilliant this season, looked awful tonight. Not creative at all & just passed backwards. Bjarnason was supposed to be good & looked ****. Adomah has no end product whatsoever yet was supposedly really good at this level for Boro.

It's really worrying that performance tonight, like a side fighting relegation not aiming for playoffs. Bruce really has to turn this around immediately because it just can't go on. I won't be watching Sat after that though.

Oh and of course McCormack. 20 goal a season man last few years - comes to Villa & can't hit a cow's backside with a banjo. Hogan will probably be the same.

Don't blame the players tonight. We were very badly set up. Shoving in a whole new midfield is equivalent to putting in a makeshift job. So you DON'T go blasting forwards from the word go. You keep it tight. You keep it organised. You make sure everybody knows what their job is and does it. You give the players the experience of working together. You try to control the match. Do that at some point in the match you'll start to get chances. This was as bad as our worst last season.

Bruce. OR his back-room staff. Have got it wrong. Big time. It may be unfair as we don't know, but we haven't put in a good performance since Calderwood arrived. He wasn't a Bruce appointment. Whether it's him, Bruce, or something else, something is not right at Bodymoor

Did Lansbury get his tenth booking tonight and is subsequently banned for the game at Forest?

I see you've signed Scott Hogan from...wait for it...Brentford!
You just couldn't make it up,you could sign Paul Hogan and Hulk Hogan and you'd still be rubbish!
