The thing is that despite the hate people are still going to buy this fight, most likely even many of the people who are currently saying they won't buy it and that's exactly why it will probably happen sooner or later.

I don't understand the issue behind the hate. Everyone realises that this fight is a circus act yet if you can acknloweldge it, why not watch it?
It's a cross over of two sports that are rivals in many aspects. To compare it to something like WWE is delusional because what ever you may say about this fight, at the end of the day, two guys will still step into a ring and aim to hurt the other as much as they can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The competiveness of the fight is what makes the build up. All this is pitting two guys with a big fanboy base together to make money.
If you this celebrity culture over great competive Intriguing fights then I feel sorry for you and boxing.
It such a shame that great fighters who take tough fights don't get the money because of the fanboys more interested in celebrity over the fighting.

oh hey, i like wwe, and Connor loves wwe, hence the 'McMahon' power walk he's copied.
But this is obviously an exhibition fight.
Blatantly a fight for the casual fan, but i have no problem speculating about it.
There is fun to be had in that.
as a Boxing fan, i know where i class this fight, but would i watch? sure i would, just for the sake of it being a unique event.
and i agree, you have to promote. doesn't have to be trash talking all the time.
people buying Joshua/Klitch, and it's like 'Happy Days' over there, all pally pally.
but you gotta sell it to the masses to make that green...

Hmm the major stumbling block seems to have been removed.
http://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/18919702/ufc-dana-white-thinks-floyd-mayweather-vs-conor-mcgregor-happen
The fight seems to have taken yet another step closer with Dana White and McGregor reaching an agreement that can be presented to Al Haymon and the Mayweather camp:
https://au.sports.yahoo.com/mma/a/35525149/conor-mcgregor-has-agreed-to-floyd-mayweather-fight-terms-dana-white/#page1
https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/ufc/614492/Conor-McGregor-Floyd-Mayweather-Deal-Boxing-License-Nevada-Athletic-Commission
Meh heard all this bollux about agreements 6 months ago, until its official from a Mayweather tweet it aint happening. Weird as i would of thought there's just too much money for it not too happen & Floyd wants 50-0. But taking so long

considering the money involved it would be the biggest joke fight in history but damn it everyone will watch it just to be able to say they did(myself included)
Yeah kinda a pointless fight imo, though mcgregor has more chance beating may at boxing than may does in the octogon, mcgregor will atleast last a few rounds, if it was mma connor wins in 30 seconds.
mcgregor will at least last a few rounds
---------------------------------------------
A few rounds ? Mayweather doesn't knock people out, hasn't ko'd or stopped anyone in a decade unless you count that joke ko against a defenceless Ortiz.
Mayweather is obviously heavy favourite to win the fight but unless McGregor knocks out or stops Mayweather then this fight would undoubtedly go to the cards.
