Oh come on admin. People are be a little paranoid now. It is a fair question and in now way offensive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Were you not capable of having a normal fackin discussion on the merits of whisky. Without the usual desire to steer it towards some Islamic debate.
Anyway whisky is decent.
Silly question, but doesn't it just burn you ?
Wasn't looking to debate it. Just Thought it was a reasonable question.p to ask given the subject matter

Nah, depends on the strength. The cask strength stuff can be burny.
What's a good one to start of with then ?
Can't deal with the sheer volume of pint after pint of lager any longer.
RDD, have you never met somebody of a religious background or something?
Into the whiskey, it really is down to personal preference. I used to enjoy young whiskeys, nowe I prefer a whiskey in yhe teens utd anything older is wasted on me.

If you're looking for a whiskey to go out on the lash and get fecked up, it's probably not the thread for that
Spiced rum is a good one for that, with coke and lime or ginger ale.

As much as I like many of the peaky Islay whisky mentioned I wouldn't recommend going out and buying a bottle as a starter, they are an acquired taste.
http://www.nikka.com/eng/products/blended/fromthebarrel.html is more a wider crowd pleaser.

For yourself or a gift? Such a tough question as it is such a personal thing, I like the Islay whisky such as Lagavulin and Laphroaig of Skye's Talisker but they tend to be quite peaty and that is very much downto preference.
For something a bit more safe I really like the Japanese offerings which are often quite similar in style to Scotch, Nikka from the Barrelis good value and lovely.
I'd love to try Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
£3k for a bottle of whiskey . You have to be crazy to spend that on a drink.
Bushmills 10 year old.
Perfection
Busby - I work with many on a daily basis. I'm good friends with 2 Muslim lads.
And I'm mot looking for one to go on the lash with. Just can't be doing with loads of lager anymore.

It wasn't even close to that when it came out. I can't recall how much but in the area for me to consider buying it. It won a prestigious 'best whisky in the world award' and prices got silly. I think it was about £100 but I just couldn't find any and it was being resold for £700 when I realised it was a non starter. Almost wish I'd bought a few now and made a tidy profit. Knowing me I'd invest in some and get back from the pub and crack it open.
Grants is one of the best
I think whisky's vile, the smell alone knocks me sick. I don't like the taste of booze fullstop, but I do get drunk now and then. When I see someone enjoying a glass of wine or a short I do envy them, there's no food or drink that I savour.

More than any drink, whiskey is all down to personal taste. But it would be an idea to start on something more gentle, not the peaty island malts, you need to build up to them. Get yourself a book on whiskey.
I'm not sure whiskey is for you though, you need a bit of refinement to appreciate it If you're just trying to lower your volume and still get smashed, which is what you're after I think, then get yourself on the Special Brew. Four cans of that and there ain't no one you can't offend
Yamazaki of all varieties overpriced now. Jameson the whisky of choice for the discerning pallette.
soccer?lol.
