Jose promise Young he'd get some minutes, if he didn't leave in January (said the same to Depay)
At 3-0 game was over...our attackers were playing at walking pace on the ball.
Martial on at that stage would have been a waste of time. Better to give Young some minutes here and save Martial for more important games.
I'm sure Martial would have come on if we needed a goal.
1) Young is better defensively. We were just seeing the game out.
2) Perhaps there has been a falling out over attitude/work rate/agent giving it the loud mouth/agent hawking his client to another team. Manager always wins.
3) Well, the first two reasons were good enough. No need for any other reasons.

Feck Young, he's past his prime and he's a full back now.
As Robb's article above suggests, I honestly still don't think it's that Jose doesn't rate Martial.
If he didn't rate him, he'd do what he did with Depay and Morgan - ie just not talk about them much, get rid of them and wish them well. Martial has played in way too many big games this season for Jose not to rate him.
The fact that that Jose is so overly critical of Martial makes me think there is another agenda. The pre match comments vs Hull where Jose was talking about Martial and Micki's respective performances vs Wigan were so ott it was laughable - anyone who watched that game would agree.
Jose is trying to prove a point with Martial imo. It's tough love. It's really not something I agree with, because I think against Hull it backfired and ended up being detrimental. But let's just see if Martial sinks or swims - I suppose it'll say a lot his mentality to play for this club.
I think it's clear he's giving Martial the Micky treatment, because he rates him so highly and wants him on top of his game. It worked for the latter, hopefully it works again.
My theory is that Jose has always praised Young's attitude around the club. Perhaps it was a message that said that players who are positive/listen to instructions do get their rewards.
Jose did similar to Hazard at Chelsea by saying that Hazard '......wasn't quite ready to 100% commit to the team'. That then challenged Hazard to come out of his shell and be POTY the season after.
IF there is a problem he should most certainly NoT say anything.
He would be crucified by most of the fan base for that sort of thing.
I get the tough love point of view, from my view it looks like Jose is taking it to the next level. Two assists in the FA Cup and he said Martials performance was only enough to be on the bench? For a striker shafted out on the wing? I just don't know.
1) because Mourinho, who's immeasaurably more well informed than any here, determined it was right to bring on Young.

This is my guess.
He's talked up Martial's potential massively in the past. He clearly rates the lad.
He's just trying to get a message into what appears to be a typically thick skull of a precocious youngster.
Lol... too many jokes. He is Just mismanaging him. He will gone next year, the French fella will be here who thankfully is almost 30 and would cost 90 million so at least he will be unbenchable.
Can't wait for joses evrntual burn out so we finally get that manager with the right United principles. Till then let's hope selling our soul bags is something tangible.
