Looks likely..Lets hope englands preformances improve now..
he was utter rubbish.. he was a very programmed captain.. for instance in the final test in India..Kohli refused to take the new ball in in englands innings.. So cook followed suit..We had fresh seam bowlers ready to take the new ball. But instead he brought the likes of Anderson back early with 15 overs before the new ball. That meant he was unable to take the new ball.. Then of course it was to late.. India got a massive score..
Cook only left the new ball for a long time after it was due.. Because Kohli did it..
I can't remember how he started, but by the end he was a very negative captain. A good decision.
he started of negative as well.. I recall an early test match and Leeds against the kiwi's
If he had of endforced the follow on the game would have been over in 3 days.
There was heavy rain forecast for the remaining 2 days.
the 4th day was washed out.. England only managed to win by the skin of our teeth on the final day..
before the heavens opened again.
Its not the only time he's failed to enforced the follow on.
Yes, I think the 1st Test Vs India, England were on top and he just accepted the draw, should've really pushed for victory there.
2nd Test Vs Pak, England were nearly 400 ahead and he still didn't enforce the follow on, the match was won easily of course, but a really ultra-negative mindset.
Yes.. even fabrace backed him in that game. there was 5 sessions to go and we had a 400 lead and they were worried about batting last against Pakistan spinners.. how the hell can you concede over 550 and be bowled for less that 150 in 5 sessions??
Looks Root will take over and hopefully he'll be more attacking
Broad or Anderson should be next captain not root.
Cookie.... Do what you do best.... Score some runs...
he took on the role when there was no obvious captain lined up. I guess there was a bit of vanity involved but he was there when needed.
Cook has been a fantastic captain.... won the ashes twice - what more do people want? The KP saga didn't help though...,
Anyway, poor lad never got to beat Pakistan in a test series whilst we was in charge. Root the obvious replacement for me
the first ashes series we won was great 3-0.. the second we were very poor 3-2..we lost the last 7 out 10 ashes matches.. That was cooks problem as captain. we won 2 ashes series won in india and south Africa yet his win to loss ratio was almost identical.
Speaking of not beating Pakistan.. It wasn't helped by cooks captaincy.. England had just bowled Pakistan out for nothing in the previous test to the oval.. The oval grounds man left live green grass on the wicket//
Knowing the grass would be cut the next day and that the weather was set for warm and sunny.. You obviously bowl first. NOOOOOOOOOO NOT COOK!.
