shocked....

Hopefully Cooky can crack on with the runs this summer now

Well that was inevitable after the thrashing England got in India under Cookie.. I have a feeling that Cookie will crumble this summer too for runs! It looks downhill for him in near future. Just my opinion!

I hope the burden of captaincy does not affect Root`s batting

The interview process was abit of a farce imo. It's like going for an interview at work and everyone knows its going to the bum licker but they still interview other clowns for some daft reason to make it look like it was a hard decision.

Why was it a farce Boss...?

Such a "by the book" decision

By the book decision? Suppose you'd prefer a 'non by the book decision'? Perhaps appoint Samit Patel as captain...?

I like Root as a batsman and would prefer he concentrates on that for the moment.

It seemed so obvious that management would choose the obvious choice and make that obvious decision.

This suggests to me that nothing will really change and, just a difference face at the helm. I hope I'm wrong of course.

Root is a great batsman, I just hope he hasn't taken any captaincy tips from Cook who was also a great batsman chosen for Captaincy because he was the best player. That doesn't always work.

What was the point in interviewing Broad, Stokes and whoever else they did? Everyone and there dog knew Root would be the next captain.

Stokes was interviewed to be vice captain.

Broad was interviewed as a senior member of the side to also provide his view on Root as the teams captain.

I mean seriously, you lot moan for the sake of f'in moaning.

Root is a completely different personality to Cook and will manage the captaincy in his own style.

Obvious choice? Of course it was. He's been vice captain for the last few years and has been England Lions captain before that. So! Virat Kohli was the obvious choice for India, Kane Williamson for New Zealand and Steve Smith was for Australia.
