Hard Fought Victory

Lively game. Expected them to tire, but equally could have bagged two by then anyway given our current defensive record. 2nd despite our hit and miss form? Can't argue with that in peps first season IMO.

Should have mentioned Stones as well, solid as a rock tonight.

Hard fought game. We could have had a couple more and they never really threatened. Even so it's easy to come unglued in fixtures like this. Hats off to the ref for disallowing that goal.

Decent ref, still missed that foul on Sane in the box though.

Rated Stones tonight. As for Fernandinho? Can't remember a finer performance from a city lb in my living memory - tho that obviously doesn't say a lot about two and a half decades worth of city left backs!!!

I thought stones was man of the match. With Silva, sterling and willy playing well. I am disappointed that pep won't even give Vinnie a chance. I suppose the cl and fa game will show who he really has faith in.

Silva MoM for me. Was the get out pass for the full 98 minutes. Blooming fantastic he was.

Pep doesn't rate Vinnie's passing. If it was a blood and guts game, I think he'd pick Vinnie.

Any news on G-sus's injury?

Fernandinho must be one of the most underrated players in the Prem. Just has everything.

Thought Silva was your MoM though, when he's on form he's such a great player to watch.

Would have given it to silva then sterling then Stones.

Feel a lot better with big willy at the back

The whole defence looks a lot more content with a big Willy behind them.

On a serious note Caballero hasn't put a foot wrong since coming in, and his passing out under pressure is as good if not better than the clown we bought in the Summer.

Some of the movement, control and passing from Silva last night was miraculous. Best player I've ever seen at City without doubt.

It appeared to me that David Silva was the only City player that they stood off from. "Magician" absolutely sums it up. Agree, finest player I've ever seen in a City shirt and I've seen a quite a few over fifty years.

While all the plaudits are focused on G-sus prior to yesterday's game, Sane is just growing under the radar.
He is a real torment to defenders especially when he runs at them. One of our best purchase in recent times.
Also, when Aguaro came on, it became obvious why Pep prefers G-sus instead.

That through ball to Ibe in the first half would have been a goal if that was Bravo.

Hoping VK will be slowly, slowly, eased back in. Rather have him for the run in than a 1 game cameo followed y another 12 weeks in physio.

Pep said Kompany isn't as good a passer as Kolarov or Stones. That's why he can't get into the team.

Kolarov keeping VK out of the team.......

Vinny should get a chance soon and hopefully will be back for the rest of the season. Can't complain too much given City now sitting second but the results against Everton and Leicester and the awful refereeing of the Tottenham game are now haunting us.

Vinny's problem is, I regret to say, his fitness. He has had so many muscle injuries now that he is carrying a lot of scar tissue. The beat on the street is that he will never play more than one match a week now, and maybe not even that. Guardiola is stubborn and opinionated, but he isn't stupid. If Vinny was fit and in his prime he'd be in there.

Vinny will play Saturday I would imagine... I actually think Stones would benefit greatly from a stint alongside him, Pep needs to remember that players like Stones will be with us much longer than he himself will be.

I'd rather believe what Pep actually says (unless he is telling us how good Bravo is)

Cast you minds back to when Vinny was a DM rather than a CB and his main attribute was his passing.

Pep is talking bolloccks.
