Good point Op. I would totally focus on Europa and the cup comps. The league would be a bonus, but the aim is CL footy and i think we could really win the Europa if we every effort to do so.
I love watching United play.
Don't think we've played better since Europa broke up for winter. It's just we started taking more of our chances.
More games the better IMO, I'm loving our cup runs and our unbeaten run too, when I see Jose walking out of the tunnel be at OT or away, I think "we're in safe hands here", haven't felt that since SAF walked out the door.
Bring it on
All of the things mentioned in the OP were, are and will remain irrelevant unless Jose stops making such pi55 poor decisions about the starting 11.
the season started with a squad that should have finished 3rd. He still has the that same squad, he has mis-used it terribly.
Should not be behind the poor squads of AFC and LFC regardless of what competitions each are in (or not in)
I think our boys are relishing all of the competitions, not fearing them. This is the hungriest United squad in quite some time. I have no worries, we can count on the North London teams to do their usual fade pretty soon. No more draws, please. This is not the same team that couldn't hit the side of a barn a few months ago anyway. Bring it on!

As each season passes it makes 99 look an even greater achievement especially with the constant whinging from all areas including managers about fixture pile ups. Great to play and see more games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
99 is the perfect example of how being in all comps can work for you, momentum can carry us through.
yeah it might blow up in our faces but I'd rather have a go at everything than get knocked out nearly
I had doubts in some of our Europa group stage games that the players mentalities were the same as we've seen before, not wanting it as much as the other team, thinking they shouldn't be there and should be in the CL.
But the further we've gone, the more you see them wanting it. Personally I'm not fussed who we draw in the next round, based on ability, but just hope it's not an away tie that's too far away.
There is no side that we couldn't beat over two legs, obviously Roma would be a very difficult game but we'd have to play them later on anyway if they were that good. Better to get the hard games out the way now than during the very last push in the league when we have the big sides to play.
Absolutely loving the fact we have a lot of games this season. One of the most boring seasons for me in recent history was LVGs first season. No European football, out of the FA cup in the QF, out of the League cup at the first hurdle. huge gaps between watching united play, was awful.
I understand people are worried about top 4, but this year it seems like top 4 is every bit as a lottery that the EL is for getting CL football. enjoy the ride, there are so many permutations we could end up with. We could end up with CL football and no trophies, could end up with nothing or we could end up with 3 trophies and CL football, which would be a phenomenal achievement.

Of course in LVG's second season the only thing worse than the long gaps between United matches was the short gaps between United matches.
Orrrr....
Spurs are out of form, inconsistent, have no momentum and look more likely to drop points in the coming weeks.
Their players' morale will have taken a hit and they will have lost some of their motivation to train quite as hard and impress the boss with a view to appearing in a European final.
One game a week in the last few weeks of the season will not help the players' focus.
There are two ways to look at all of this. Player fitness and injuries (which if correctly managed don't have to be a huge issue) aside, I think the whole argument about the damage European competition can do to a league campaign is massively overblown.
The ropey looks there for the taking

It's as good an argument as the one in the OP
Managers love to excusemonger. It's what they do nowadays.
Instead of saying, "Isn't it great that we can celebrate our progress in all four competitions; we can compete for four titles - why not?"
They say, "We could do without this. There are too many games and this will impact our chances of competing for any title."
They do this to protect themselves from a bitter and bloodthirsty press, impatient, trigger happy directors and overdemanding, unrealistic fans.
You read LVG's words on his experience at United, you look at what happened when Ranieri was appointed and what's just happened to him, you look at how Wenger is treated by some Arsenal fans, and for me it's a great shame how we treat managers in England.
Probably reflective of British society more widely, but there's zero respect for the work that football mangers do.

We managed it in 2013 with an unbalanced first team squad and no depth.
Jose has won the uefa cup and the Europa already. We couldn't hope for a better manager in it besides maybe Unai Emery. Jose has also won 2 CL's too which gives him the edge though.
I'm confident we can win it. We may not but we shouldn't fear anyone left.
This season I feel we'll win the Europa, the league cup and get top 4
I'm more and more okay about us binning off the FA cup tbh as long as the first 3 objectives are met.
If we do get the first 3 it would be a superb first season for Jose considering Chelsea and Liverpool (who I think will be 1 and 2) didn't have any European distractions
I am looking forward to seeing what next season’s top 4 will look like, with Chelsea, Spurs, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Everton, Southampton all not being able to make it in due to having European football. Do you think we will see Championship or even League 1 sides in the top 4 next season as they have less tough fixtures to contend with so will be easier for them?

teams aspire to get into Europe then whinge & moan about fixture pile up tiredness etc. Well don't try & qualify for Europe then.
