I've got the Virgin skin one
its decent, all the channels you need on it (all sky movies, all sky sports, all bt sports/espn, boxnation etc etc) think sky box office should be fine on it for Saturday aswell
think the better your Wifi is the better it works so set the router up next to it
It's not a Virgin skin one. You can put many different skins on it.
You can either get a cable line or a satellite line. With cable you get all HD channels and with Satellite only the free HD channels. You can get a satellite line for £10 for the year and cable for £25. Stay away from eBay 'gifts', they're risky as hell. Go to a satellite forum where you have some kind of come back in the unlikely event something goes wrong.
I have cable with the Sky Q skin as I just like it better than the Virgin skin. You can also run both Plex and Kodi on it.
Do not pay somebody £150+. It's around £80 for the receiver and as I mentioned before £10 or £25 for the year, depending on whether you have cable or satellite coming into your home. If you have Virgin broadband you can have cable or satellite or both. If you have any other it's satellite only.
When you receive the Zgemma, simply flash the firmware with your firmware of choice. OpenVix is not supported as they still regard the Zgemma as a clone so it may cause you problems. OpenATV would be the next popular. Personally I use iPab which is based on OpenATV. Once you done that you can import the line you've purchased using Filezilla on your computer. For satellite simply connect your satellite cables, if you've Virgin broadband but never had TV you'll only have one feed which goes into your router. You'll need to use a splitter to split it into two feeds, one going to your router and one to the receiver. If you have iPab you can use their setup which numbers the steps and makes it very simple, to set everything up including the EPG and timeshift.
Good luck.
