This was my follow up post:
The decision to decide what level to prosecute takes into account a number of factors. This includes the nature of the offence, the impact on the victim and the previous convictions of the accused. Therefore in something that might appear to be a minor assault it could go before a jury if the accused has multiple previous convictions for assault.
The decision to make this a jury case in part is probably down to the political sensitivity if the whole sectarian debate. You never know though the guy may have a string of previous convictions.
The biggest scandal here is that the guy offered to plead guilty under deletion of the sectarian add on. This though was not accepted. That despite the fact that only one witness heard the remark even though a number of other individuals were including the Celtic management team were closer and heard no such thing.
Whilst you may think the Fiscal is to blame they are not allowed discretion in cases involving sectarian or racist aggravations. Politicians have decreed that all cases where a plea of guilty is not tendered as libelled they should proceed to trial. That despite the quality of the evidence.
Have to laugh at McBride though, ironic from a man whose job is to defend people accused of crime. More often than not worse than what this idiot did to Lennon.

So what's everyone's plans for the weekend. We're out for my sisters 30th bash tomorrow. Booked a limo as a surprise for her then going for a meal and few drinks. Looking forward to it.
That sounds grand LMC.
SSB, yes using the same name on NOT606. On the Dumbarton board, Edge and 'Tina' don't like each other!
On a sadder note, Jos Hooiveld will be needed seeming that Saints young CB was beaten senseless in Southampton city centre last night. Dan Seabourne is now in intensive care.
Saw that saints. Looks as though he is out of woods thankfully.

Quiet one for me this weekend, first in a while. Lazy night tonight watching Andy Murray and a couple of beers. Scotland game tomorrow on the TV. Taking Mrs BT out for a meal and pictures tomorrow night. Sunday either the garden getting done or reorganising a room in the house depending on the weather.
MON THE SCOTLAND!!!!!!!!

Good news for Scottish football today and the thought of Celtic getting a couple of tankings and having to always play on a Sunday suits me as a Gers fan
See the usual suspects on 606 are not only point scoring but making wild predictions

So far I am preferring this to 606 . The admins are also not scared to let threads run their course and are not so heavy handed with their moderation.

WOW
Andy Murray does his best to lose, then mounts a remarkable comeback but from the edge of victory almost conspires to throw it away again. Typically Scottish apart from he did grind out the victory in the end.
It was never a penalty!!!!!!!!
&
It was definitely a penalty!!!!!!
Cheating Scottish bassa's!
Saints ya cheeky bassa
Scotland need a win tonight at all costs otherwise the goodwill Craig Levein has following the dodgy penalty will evaporate. I see a lot of posters calling for him to go but what is the realistic alternative at this stage?
Hope all are well
