It's comparatively new I think. Law played for us and City twice and I don't remember any animosity. Before the mid 60s United and Pool could buy players from the other club.

My mate at work baffles me with that one.............He says

"Schmeichel can never be a United Legend cos he went on to play for City".

But is happy for there to be a statue of Law outside your stadium.

It baffles me cos i don't see the difference. Especially considering the back heel.

Probably not what the OP is intending but from being one of the worlds best to a virtual no one in a few years, Kaka springs to mind.

Sol Campbell should be the obvious one but I doubt that's who the OP had in mind.

Why wouldn't you mention Jose's name in this thread?

Seems there are quite a few "obvious ones"

I am guessing the obvious one is Rooney. I'll throw Keane in there - a bit of a tool to be fair.

Damn I forgot Sol Campbell Although if Arsenal had prised away a fully fit Ledley King (as I considered him to be more talented) that imo would have been a bigger coup.

This “sharticle” came about because I remember even though Chelsea weren’t renewing his contract. A fair few of our fans on old 606 were happy to label Joe Cole as a “Judas” if he stayed in London and wen to Arsenal/Tottenham on a free.

I argued at the time. As he was unemployed (or going to be) that he only had a responsibility to himself and his family.

Looking at 'Popular Today' I see 'Liverpool or Arsenal' and to be honest I though that this was the multiple choice answer to the question in this OP.

Surely you'd have to put Kevin Keegan at Newcastle up there, didn't he walk out on them the same as Emgland, although he's still considered 'King Kev' up there?

Oh and Glen Hoddle at England as well as Swindon and Chelsea, with the absolutely vile things he said about disabled people he will NEVER work in football again over his disgraceful religious views and rightly so,no matter how hard Alan Brazil and TalkSport try to get him a job!

I can't honestly say that I as such "Worship" any of our players, to me they are just transient commodities that are passing through and they happen to be currently earning a living playing for my chosen Club.

One bloke that I liked, Gordon Durie embarrassed himself with the comments he made when he left Chelsea for Spurs in the Summer of 1991. Apparently he had to leave us because his "Wife and family were homesick for Glasgow and he needed to move back there purely to keep them happy".

So anyway to solve the problem he did indeed move North, but not to the former City of Culture, but to Tottenham in North London.

Obviously he got dogs abuse for such hypocrisy and as luck would have it Spurs's first home game of that season was at home to us. Durie got proper slaughtered and laughed at as we ran out 3-1 winners.

For the return game at the Bridge in January 92, which would have been an Olympic event of abuse for him, he was mysteriously "Injured" and missed the game but fortunately recovered in time for Spurs next game at home against Southampton.

He did stay at Spurs for a couple of years but never won anything or scored or even finished on the winning side against us, before finally making it to Glasgow to sign for Rangers. He got there in the end.

that person for me is roy keane

absolutely adored him then after he fell out with the club what I used to see a straight talking just now sounds a bitter words of an old man

still cannot forget him almost relishing utd losing vs madrid in the ucl and being the only person in the uk that thought nani's tackle was a red card.
