We really should have killed the game with Firmino at 1-0. and at 1-1 with that Lallana chance, which both probably cost us.
Sometimes you've got to put your hands up and say there's not a lot you can do at the other end though. The way City move the ball is sensational at times, how on earth they only scored one goal is beyond me.
Thought Can was excellent today by the way. Apparently he was playing through injury at the start of the year but when he's fit he's an asset. Broke the lines, passed the ball well and at key times and was generally influential. Thought he was the best player on the pitch so fair played to him.
Agree Can was outstanding.
So much better when fit in that deep role.
Hendo should be in one of the two runner midfield roles, but he can only do that if he's fit enough and he keeps getting injured.
Thought Wij was superb again too. His pass to Firmino didn't deserve Lallana's miss.
Can was excellent. My only issue with him is that sometimes he's very sloppy, lazy even, with his passing. Today he was spot on again. Lallana was also very good but that chance he missed was poor. We seemed to lose our threat when Coutinho went off and Origi strangely went onto the wing. On balance it was a good game and a fair result.

I agree.
With Henderson and Can able to play as a DM I don't agree with the clamouring for a new one in the summer. We have two players who can play there. Other positions need filled before we need another DM.
Thought wijnaldum was superb
On Firmino, his link up play and work rate are excellent but he's not clinical enough. That's not his fault, he's not an out and out striker but with Sturridge always injured we don't have a clinical striker. That's an area we need to improve.

LB, wing and ST are the main ones, if Moreno is no longer trusted and Sturridge can't be relied on. Of course we'll need a CB too if Sakho isn't given another chance. A busy summer ahead but if we can keep our current players as well as add these positions we'll be strong.
Agree that Can was excellent today. Thought Lallana had a quiet game in the first half. He came into it more in the second and that chance
I still don't think Can is the answer as a DM. IMO he's better when he's given the freedom to come forward more, like the second half against Burnley.
I know Klopp probably doesn't want one, but I'd like an out and out DM, in the mouldy of Kante. Just don't ask me who that player is!
That miss will be on Lallana's headstone
Lallana is such a different type of player than any other, he gives you so much in terms of holding onto the ball and beginning a threatening attack as well as the defensive side of his game. He's never going to be exciting but then neither was Sheringham and like Lallana I used to love watching him play due to his intelligence on and off the ball.
Although Lallana cost me £698. I was waiting on Liverpool and both teams to score.
I love doing BTTS and result. But they're a lot harder to get then you would think....

Can does the defensive things excellently. He's still young and of he can develop his passing game he can be a top DM.

Yeah they seem easy when you're about to place the bet. I had United and Spurs too. Tip for you - the Dutch second division. It's always full of goals.

Yeah, maybe. I'm certainly not bashing him, but just feel we need a more finished article and dedicated DM at this stage. Not so much today, but our defence gets left too exposed, too often for my liking.

Just looked at last weeks games. Out of 18 teams, only two didn't score! No games next weekend though....
I don't think a new DM is going to solve our defence being exposed.
It's partly just the way we play.
Coutinho does very little defensive work on the left (he presses and intercepts well but doesn't stay wide and support his full back in that way). A DM can't solve that as if they were covering the left all game it would just gaps elsewhere.
Mane plays very high up the pitch so Clyne is also exposed when we lose the ball high up.
A DM can't be in all places at once. I think we protect the middle of the pitch pretty well.
It's the wide areas where we most often get exposed. That why we need a better centre half so we can deal with those balls in better, and a more natural left back (if they are good defender too) will help stop crosses on that side easier.

That's every single week for years now. I used to do it about three or four years ago with another guy in work. The bet I mean....
When I left I stopped and forgot about it. Need to start that up again.
Wijnaldum, Can, Firmino (bar the miss), Mane were all brilliant.
Coutinho was looking like more himself too, delightful reverse pass for Firmino.
Centre backs and Milner were decent too.
Only negative performance for me which is surprising was Clyne, thought he was woeful, Sane had him on toast all game. He has to return to levels he was showing a few months back because recent form simply isn't good enough.
