Our bowling now looks very settled. We have leg spin options, jadeja/ashwin both equally capable of picking wickets. And then our 4 quartet of shami, Bhuvi, yadav and Ishant Sharma.
I am now very much looking forward to our tour. If our batting holds up, we have a very good chance of winning away matches.
We are scheduled to tour SA end of the year for 4 tests. That will be a cracker of a series.
Yadav today was amazing. He has outbowled Aussie pacers by a mile this series, and that considering he has played 12 of the 13 matches this home season and still steaming in
Yeah Yadav has been great this series as was Shami against England. His spell today was what we've wanted to see from him for years - different lengths all executed well at searing pace.
The dilemma abroad is do we go with 5 batsmen, Saha, Ashwin, Jadeja and 3 seamers or do you drop one of the spinners for another seamer.
Yadav and Shami are guaranteed to play when both fit so I guess it depends on the pitch whether Bhuvi/Ishant play. We are stacked with spinners - Ashwin, Jadeja, Jayant Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and if times are bad we can always play Mishra
What we miss is a seaming all rounder - a Kapil Dev basically. Although players like him only come round once a generation. On a pitch like the WACA (which this Dharamshala pitch has resembled funnily enough) three seamers plus a fourth option of pace can be so vital.
It's going to be brilliant seeing the Aussies go back home empty handed (barring a major collapse) - yes they performed far better than anyone expected and showed great determination but their media, board and players are so unlikeable. Jadeja's post day press conference made me laugh today, well worth a watch if you understand Hindi. As Viru Paaji would say - "Khaali haath aaye the, khaali haath jayengey"
Amazing test series.. Congrats 🍾 🍾 India 🇮🇳 🇮🇳
Haha great series win and my favourite so far in a very very long time. Kohli today said this Indian side aren't going to be like Indian teams of the past and sit there and take that verbal nonsense that the Aussies like to dish out. The fact that Jadeja dished it out through his bat to that moron Wade was fantastic to watch.
After all the vilification we have received in the Aussie media it's great to see Kohli have the last laugh.
I'm liking the aggression too, just hoping it's not taken too far where it gets embarrassing, so far it's been great and added the fire and edge made this a great test series
India have done the business on home soil and fair play to them.
Now lets see what India are made of away from home.
\india have a good team but to really become a true test great u need to perform away from home on alien conditions.
I just hope this team remains injury free especially in future tours to Kiwis, Saffa, Australia & the biggest one of them all England.
As usual well said Grande!
One thing which I totally agree with Kumble is that we need to work on our catching. As u all know catches wins matches for sure!
I think someone needs a word wth Kohli
I like his passion and aggression however he is the captain.
Im not expecting him to be a Misbah or Dhoni however he need to be an example. Hes the captains and there is no denying he is a wonderful talented batsman.
I love his aggression and passion and giving it back to the aussies and ben stokes like characters.
However sometimes he just needs to let his cricket do the talking.
Agreed grand. Kohli needs to calm down at times. He should stop getting distracted by other players. It does affect his game and concentration.
One thing I applaud about India team is I never see them complain about pitch. Other teams always have this as the first topic.
Viru,
Don't forget about the toss too. Remember Cookie bitching about it and folks claimed here that in India, win the toss, u win the match. Now India lost more and gave very sporting pitches this season to all the teams except SA. Still u will see some idiots complaining about it or in total denial mode.
Away tours is what we have struggled with in recent years especially under Dhoni but then again most sides do nowadays. We did fairly well under Kohli in Australia where we came quite close but essentially a combination of naivety and some great Aussie bowling meant we missed out. I would just like us to compete competitively which we've struggled to do especially in the previous two tours to England. Bowling is a lot more settled now which will help. Shami, Umesh and Bhuvi/Ishant is an excellent bowling attack abroad with decent variety so hopefully we can do a lot better injuries permitting.
The only thing I have is if we get injuries in the pace attack, we barely have anyone else. I can't think of any other pace bowler who would come in for shami, yadav, Bhuvi or ishant. Our cupboard is bare. We have tried a few spinners this tour, but haven't experimented with pacers.
Viru what has happened to Varun Aaron? I remember when he was touted as our brightest pace option.
