So, you may have had to spend an extra day or two in the sun?
I feel for you
This is why I've never understood the fuss with alcohol. It's always causing problems for everyone that drinks too much of it.

All a fuss over nothing then in the end, should have just listened to your mates and got on it

"I am not hugely sympathetic to things like depression and anxiety, but now I am"
Right.
To be fair, anything bad that happens is multiplied if you're stuck in a foreign country unless you're rich beyond having any concerns.
Also, if you're away with a few mates or other couples you're a bit more level headed and probably get a bit of help of decent advice. On a stag do I can imagine the level of help offered to you
A great story with a happy ending.
It made it worth getting up today.
if you had not stayed an extra you probably would have died. i feel for you
What would the cost have been to just book another seat on the plane ? Surely not that expensive to have to stay for a few more days instead.
Could've gussied the story up a bit with a bit of bum rape or kidney stealing throw in to justify the terror he felt.
But no. It was the threat of missing a flight that brought him to the verge of a teary breakdown.
I got stuck for 2 extra nights in Shanghai with work a few years ago because of shiiit weather.
I had to stay in a larger than average hotel room for 2 extra nights, with nothing to do but drink and eat one of the hotels 4 restaurants, charged to works expenses
I just wanted to curl up and die.
Should have stayed off the alcohol pal.

Without alcohol he would have been crying and facing major depression a lot sooner than 2 days in, have you ever been to Benidorm?

Sadly not Mike, but I'll pass anyway
Our flight back from Croatia was cancelled once. We had to put our luggage into a hotel room nearer the airport and wander round a lake for the morning. and they bought us lunch. Our rescheduled flight took us home almost 6 hours later than planned. Just horrendous.

Then you will never feel the intense rush of excitement, confidence and fun when you hand you're mate you're bevy and proclaim "here, hold my beer" before you inevitably really hurt yourself by doing something immensely stupid.
I once spent the night in Luton airport on the way to watch a Madrid game.
We arrived at 10.30. The bar had guinness which was dispensed into a glass with the push of a button.
The bar closed at 11.
Verge of tears.
