Very good decision. Probably a large pay cut but still a huge salary and a player that still wields a lot of influence at the club on and off the pitch. No doubt a big favourite with Abramovich for all the right reasons.

Hope he's not taking a big chunk of our budget or blocking the way for the youngsters like Christensen,Zouma and Ake. I think this year proved we no longer need him as a player.
I'm a massive JT fan and am grateful for his massive contribution. Its time to say goodbye as a player.

Should have the right to leave on his own terms. That one year extension should be extended to him every year until he retires.

Give him plenty of time to get his badges and slot straight into the backroom staff when he calls it a day.

True. I'm sick of our so called legends furrrking off to our rivals the second we don't offer them a new contract. Some loyalty would be nice dudes

Great news, doubt he'll play a single minute next season but that's not the point.

As much as I want him to stay forever at Chelsea I think he should move on after this season. Currently blocking a position on the bench for Ake and with Christensen likely to return next season I don't want him getting in the way of either. Won't be disappointed though if he signs another contract. Legend.

I don't think he will, he will be seen just like Totti is seen by Roma in Italy as a useful option of experience.

I don't think for one second it'll hinder the team

Absolutely not, he will be there to boost the team and prepare for a new role on football, thought that was obvious.

He has hardly played games this season, can't see him being involved much next season either. So, I don't think he will be blocking the development of Christensen, in fact JT is there to help him develope.

As JDFI already mention, his presence inot the dressing room giving the team a boot when needed and gradually settle part into the backroom staff.

Rumour has it he'll be around in case of emergencies, so I doubt he'll be blocking the path for Christensen.

The only rumours that worry me on that account are that we are ahead of City in the race to sign Van Diijk.

He's still a great influence in the dressing room and good news, IMO, if it happens.
