I would agree bur you have got to be on the wind up with the Baines comment? Just cos mane hurt himself you can't make things up
Watch Baines tackle again.

he to say was dissapointed in their youth players. I thought they were bang average especially Davis
Everton were pathetic today. Barkely and Williams set their standard.
Koeman facked up in his selection and set-up.
after watching Barkley he is not a hard dirty player he is a dirty player, after the Henderson tackle I gave him the benefit of doubt.
Shows the difference between the top 6 and the rest. Everton are still a long way behind. Can't see them holding on to Lukaku and Barkley either.
Koeman is too big for Everton. With the players he's got they are overachieving.
Still a dirty team

I've spoke about this before but too often referees are deciding how they're going to referee the game before a ball is kicked. This can t happen. The decisions have to be judged on their own merit. To be fair I didn't think the Barkley one was a red until I saw the replay and he may have missed the excuse for a stamp but the toting up process should have applied to both Barkley and Williams. There was no intend on the part of Baines. It was just one of those things. Overall the referee had a good game in terms of getting decisions right but as you say, he referee the occasion instead of the individual challenges.

It was actually Lovren who dominated Lukaku. I really think that is a partnership which could develop into an excellent one if they can get a run of games together.
Lovren had a good game and his partinship with Matip looks good.
After Mascherano and Alonso, Lucas has been our best DM. Neither Henderson nor Can are good enough to play in that position.
Can was good today but he can become a better player if he can stop delaying the pass and make better decisions by stopping to get himself in trouble when he has easier and better options. You can get the best out of him if there is a proper DM playing next to him. I liked the formation and the team today. But we need a proper striker, a defensive midfielder and a left back in the summer. Milner doesn't impress me. Lucas had a good game but he's inconsistent and doesn't play enough games.
Firmino looked tired after the international games.

If you watch it again you can see Barkley lean back to lessen the impact of the tackle, just as soon as he had seen Lovren had stretched for the ball.
It got the yellow it deserved.
Unlucky for Mane, he has had a brilliant season and hope he doesn't miss many games.
Can should have been shown nothing more than a yellow for his retaliation tackle attempt on Gana.
Williams and Can both slid in, both looking to take ball and or man.

If Can had made contact he'd have been off. He was still lucky he didn't get sent off as only the intent needs to be there but you can understand his frustration having been stamped on and then studed on his knee. I think Williams was frustrated as his defending was poor.
Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Leighton Baynes did NOT foul Sadio. Baynes has in my view never been a dirty player. It was a case of two professionals, each going for the ball, their legs being tangled up in away that they couldn't have done even if they tried to resulting in Sadio gong down.
Call me the Prophet of Doom, but, I strongly suspect that's the last we will see of Sadio this season. I hope to God I am proved wrong.

Can did make contact, but Gana just rode the tackle and didn't go to ground rolling about.
Both Barkley and Williams shoupd count themsleves lucky to have got through 90 mins, both deserved red.
Good game and result for us overall. The only negative is Mane's injury. Baines wasn't to blame in any way. Hopefully he's not out too long, but I'm not hopeful. Thought we kept them at arms length for most of the match. Coutinho was class. Wij and Firmino a bit quiet. Lucas and Can were decent in MF.
