Root is a top player you can tell that with his foot movement.. fully back or fully forward.even when Roy gets forward its little dabble movements..no big stride.. hes not good enough.

This comp is not the time to be searching for your form..

I'd open with Root and Hales and put Bairstow in...assuming Woakes is fit

Stat - No team has successfully chased 300+ in the Champions Trophy, Sri Lanka’s 297/3 in 2013 the highest previously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh now....that should make this more interesting...nice find
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can disregard that stat....that'll get done a few times in this comp
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting with this game

Easy win.

The Kiwis look on for a big score. Hopefully they beat the Aussies and England does and we can shut the aussies up earlier.

Another flat track. Big scores have been chased at this ground in the warm ups. PAK chased 340 and NZ chased 350.

posted on 2/6/17

You can almost guarantee that Pakistan will be the first team to score less than 300 on any track in this competition

Why do people say cricket has moved on when we see these massive scores every game?

Maybe bowlers have declined, maybe pitches are flatter and maybe grounds are smaller.

There are some bigger hitters as a results of T20 and some innovative shots being used recently, but just have a look at bowlers and pitches nowadays.

New Zealand lost a lot of momentum in that innings, they should have made 320+, Unfortunately I fancy Australia to chase this down

NZ did what Bangladesh did yesterday

Wouldn't be a proper English tournament without the rain

posted on 2/6/17

why the hell isn't there a reserve day? the weather forecast is much better tomorrow.. seriously a team can be knocked out because of the weather and that's just stupid.. all about money that's why.

posted on 2/6/17

to be fair to the English weather.. SA/NZ even Sri-lanka you often lose days to the weather.. you can lose entire test matches in South Africa.. there needs to be a reserve day.

I agree with Liverpoolelse. Also I think that there should be 2 reserve days for cricket matches.

What a pity. A team has 3 matches and one is already washed out. Will there be a bigger farce than this if say nz or aus have another match which gets washed out.

For such a short tournament I just understand why we could not have reserve days. Neither the semis nor the finals have reserve days

Viru,

I think you are right about semi, but there is definitely a reserve day for the final. In a case of rain washout in the semi-final, the team that ended at the top in their specific groups will through to the final
