Rowett on summer signings: "More power, strength, pace and we need more Championship resilience".

How long have I been saying this?!!

I even bumped into Gary Sale (assistant manager) after the game in main reception and he repeated exactly this and said 'don't worry we'll sort it'.

Hallelujah!!!

More a robust discussion I would say Heb, (with "our" fat one representing Eric Pickles).

What about skill Baz? Vydra has plenty of pace but his first touch is lacking. The first touch is the key to being able to do something useful with the ball. I really don't want a manager who talks about power, strength and pace. If I did I could go and watch the egg chasers.

Firstly, nobody has called for pace, power, or strength at the cost of skill: those distinct skill sets are not mutually exclusive.

Secondly, given your extraordinary perceptions, knowledge, and apparent myopia, then how would you know if you were to go watch rugby? You clearly don't know anything of either sport for it to have a detrimental effect on your experience.

Thirdly, move into the light.

Difficult when he's in your shadow 666.

Ramdini you have made the game sound better than it was. Ward only had 1 save to make from Anya and Carson might as well have stayed at home and had a game of cards with Bent.

I'm with Spart on Vydra, I thought he was going to make it but he just isn't good enough. He shies away from 50/50 balls and doesn't tackle back. He is a luxury player we can't afford in the team with our other luxury players.

I thought like you that Keogh and Pearce played well until I realised that they had nothing to do, Huddersfield were stupid not to attack more. They will get beaten by any of the other 3 teams in the play-offs. Olsson did well in attack but he can't defend, I hope Forsyth comes back in good form.

I also thought Will was MOM but I am rather biased on some players, he certainly was not at his best but like you I really hope we keep him for the big push next season.

Russell did well when he came on, however much have we spent trying to replace him?

It was mine and Will Hughes' birthdays yesterday, what a poor match to celebrate them.

The word skill was omitted from Rowett's list or maybe you hadn't noticed that. A continental manager would never leave this out as what he wanted to see from his players although he might use the words technical ability. I assume you like the Tony Pulis style then 666.

I would be able to count the players on the pitch as I have ability to count to numbers higher than the number of didgits. It's a skill you might try, ask Strett for lessons. It may be a long time since you went but a football team has 11 players. Do remember that far back?

The players also tend to have a different build. Some of the egg chasing forwards even start to approximate to your build although usually somewhat more solid. The goals also look different so I feel pretty confident I could manage to know what game I was attending.

The light is quite sufficient as yet. Later this evening I may flick a switch but kind of you to mention it.

From now on I shall picture 666 as Eric Pickles but a bit more wobbly.

Had you not considered that perhaps Rowett believes we have sufficient skill, therefore it isn't a priority? We have a soft underbelly as a team, are lacking across tw width of midfield in addition to just centrally in midfield and defence, and so need more presence. He was listing the attributes we need more of, and skill wasn't one of them.

Tricking things, words...

X3 - I disagree with your view of the match. Please don't take it personally,it's only how I saw it.

Firstly Hughes was responsible for their goal - He was not strong enough in the tackle (as he almost always us).The ball in two passes was at the strikers foot/ heel and in the back of our net.

It demonstrated to me that Hughes, although very talented is almost a luxury for us.

Next - Huddersfield did not dominate and were not the better side - they came for a point.Their best player was their centre half ( No 44?)

Next - Bent was offside when Vydra flicked it on - It probably would have been disallowed anyway ( in my opinion)

Next - Butterfields 'slight deflection ' it went into the opposite corner than intended.

Next - Anya was my MOTM, by a distance.

Finally - I didn't find the game boring - it was decent.

Huddersfield will be 'also rans' next year.

Chacun a son gout,as they say.......

Which game did you attend Ruberey. We played at Pride Park yesterday.

Their goal was initially the fault of Christie who misjudged Huddersfields emergency clearance and instead of the ball going straight back up to field allowed Huddersfield to get possession in our half.

What did Anya do to make him MOTM. He did one excellent recovering tackle after he lost the ball cheaply. Other than that he used a lot of energy for no useful output. Hughes on the other hand kept the very physical Man City loanee with the cow noise name quiet for the whole game plus joined in attacks and defence.

I agree about the off side and Butterfileld's big deflection. We shouldn't under estimate that goal though. Frank Lampard scored over 40 similar goals in the Premier league. Hitting a hard low shot into a crowded area is a sound tactic when faced with a team who defend in numbers in their own area.

I thought Huddersfield for the most part were awful. Oddly enough all the other play off contenders have left Pride Park pointless despite all playing better than yesterday's shower.

Hope your son's gout clears up.

I think that under the Barnett Formula, Scottish players can win MOTM despite under performing. In exchange for North Sea Oil or something.

What about Irish Scotsmenm Heb? I remember Conor Sammon winning MOTM despite playing really awful. He was never picked again after that game.

Butterfield defo cupped his ear to the south stand before the away fans. Might as well waved cos he'll be fooked off in the summer.

Spart - No,Hughes missed/ bottled/ was not physical in the challenge.Two passes later,it's a goal.

Didn't think Hughes did much. He did get passed by for their goal and made little effort to get to the ball. He did nothing to make me take notice of him and if he wasn't my MoM.
We were left just passing the ball round in front of them for the entire second half and only scored through a massive reflection. I thought we would never score. Watching it made me think this is just the same old lack of penetration with us lacking the nouse to break down a well drilled defence ala Burton and many others. Thats even with super talented playmaker Hughes in the team. He was totally ineffective in the role expected of him.
Different manager same crap in my opinion. Change of personnel required desperately.

Butterfield was definitely cupping his ear at the south stand then at the east stand on his way back. He'd passed the ball sideways and backwards and gave it away twice before he scored and we were giving him some grief in the east stand about it.
He doesn't move it forward quick enough so not a Rowett player. Gone hopefully.

666, totally agrre with you. It's a shame some people are simply incapable of 'getting it' and take everything literally!

I thought Hughes was partly culpable for their goal but I still thought he was our best player. He wasn't great but he moved forwards with the ball and tried to create which is more than any other player managed. I thought Anya was runner-up MOM simply because of his effort and because no other player did anything noteworthy.

Huddersfield were crap.

All good teams need to be physically robust as well as having ability. It's getting the balance right. At this level few players have all the attributes required so you have to find players who will do the strength and set-piece stuff and others to do the skilful stuff. Knockeart aside, I don't see a tremendous amount of skill in the Brighton team that has just got promoted and Huddersfield and Leeds appear to have none at all. All three are solid units though who over the course of a season don't give too many games. Derby's weakness over the last few seasons has been blindingly obvious - too soft, rolled over too easily.

True Harper and if he thought they bought 3000 fans his eyesight is worse than I thought!

Pearce went awol for the goal and was undone by a simple pass into the space he'd vacated for no good reason. The 'pacey' Keogh's light jog toward the danger did nothing to hinder the striker and that was that.

If that's those two playing well then God help us.

Not a lot to recommend from any of the footage that I saw but would definitely think the club's out of order to not have Butters apologise for his 'celebration' if they have any intention of keeping him beyond summer: it's one thing to be a bit crap out there, but quite another to get a bit Shouty McGobshite when you eventually fluke an undeserved (personally) goal.

I thought the Huddersfield goal was very well taken. Super finish, if he had of taken a touch the opportunity would be gone.

Your hero Ince was crap again. Do you think he will ever give us more than half a season?
