Every clubs fans defends their players as much as they can
Is he worth what we paid for him? No
Has he been a good buy? Yes
Has he improved us? Yes
He creates most of our chances and will get better. He is big, strong, powerful, very good on the ball. His biggest flaw is he has no footballing brain. He really does need to sort that out IMO. His positional sense is shocking but under the right guidance I'm sure that will improve.
He actually tries to hard but I'm sure in the next 2-3 yrs he will be a top top player.
defending him is not the same as being defensive.
he hasn't been great, we all know that, and if oppositions fans want to mock him so be it...it would just be nice if they did it with a bit of wit and style, i've lost count of the number of comments this season that are some tedious variation on
pogba £89m lol
that just gets really boring really quickly.
i do kinda agree that a world class player shouldn't take time to adapt, though it is forgotten that he had no pre-season at all this year, and of course had a busy summer with the euros, so i'm reasonably confident we will see a big improvement next year.
oh, and other than literally 1 or 2 people, i don't think any united fan on here thought he was worth £90m when we bought him, but that was the price we had to pay to a) tempt juve to sell and b) keep him out of the hands of bayern/madrid/PSG etc.
I've been critical of him.
And yes in the back of my mind the fee is a part of that. Especially given that recent world record buys have immediately stepped up.
But for me, it's more an issue that he has the talent to be the best cm in the league, but has got nowhere near the levels of consistency required. It's frustrating.
I just hope he can sort it out and not go on to be the next Veron. Because he too was an exceptional player and never quite found his form in the Pl.
It depends on what they achieve with Pogba in the team.
A this stage for me a transfer fee is irrelevant if the player halps the club achieve success, so if Pogba is to help united win the league / CL etc. then it doesn't matter what they paid for him in the long run cause they've won the major trophies to justify any fee.
If he was to play for a few more seasons and at most they win a domestic cup or two and maybe the Europa then the fee can be questioned.
He has had on OK season so far, some good games, some bad ones and plenty of ok games in between, united fans feel he has improved the style of play too.
Even though he has been in the PL before he was a kid and needs more than one season to be properly judged.
he hasn't been great, we all know that, and if oppositions fans want to mock him so be it...it would just be nice if they did it with a bit of wit and style, i've lost count of the number of comments this season that are some tedious variation on

"He creates most of our chances"
Same number of assists this season as Lucas, in 1,547 more mins.
Let that sink in.

we paid the fee we needed to pay, if he'd been sold for £50m i doubt he'd have ended up at united.
and i'd rather united pay £30m too much for pogba, ie a player who will be a fixture in the first 11 for years to come, than spend £20-30m on dross who should never have been brought to the club (schneiderlin, depay, fellaini, shaw etc)

Makes not one jot of difference if the ball ends up pinning the peanut seller to the back wall of the stand, does it?

i wouldn't personally bother to constantly flock to articles on other teams' boards just to post torres £50m lol, but whatever floats your boat.

Water usually does it
Mourinho fits square peg into round holes
Pogba is best on the left of a 3 man midfield, certainly that's where he was excellent for Juventus with Marchisio and Vidal
So to get the best out of him Utd need to buy another CM and play
x - Herrera - Pogba
play to his strengths
Madrid paid a world record fee for Ronaldo to score goals, the lad has scored goals. They paid a record fee for Bale to help them win their 10th champs league, he has done that. No one is asking for Pogba to score screamers, however we paid top dollar for him to be at least top 3 in the prem in his position. Pogba has been diabolical with respect to the fee paid.

Awkward... Pogba has 4 assists, Lucas has 3.
Pogba has also scored 7 and has been man of the match 8 times.
Stats are irrelevant, because as someone pointed out he has created more chances and completed more passes than any other CM in the PL this season.
He wouldn't have had a similar season at City, because the likes of Sane, de Bruyne, Aguero and Jesus haven't impersonated eeyore in front of goal this season.

he's looked best with x being carrick, but united clearly need 1, probably 2, more MFs bought this summer...it may be that the intention was to strengthen midfield first and buy pogba later (ie build the cake first, then get the icing later) but pogba was up for sale last summer, so you either buy him a bit early or you don't buy him at all.
but i will be amazed if a couple of top midfielders are not brought in this summer.
Sign in if you want to comment
Pogba. The fee is relevant IMO.
