It will only be good for women's tennis if she can build on it and become a real force in the sport. Women's tennis desperately needs a consistent champion, not these one hit wonders, or worse these no hit wonders that find themselves at the top of the rankings.

Sam Stosur played a fantastic match. I never believed she was capable of executing it so brilliantly, and the way she kept her nerves together in that second set, after Serena's ridiculous, moronic outburst, was just impressive.
Always kinda liked her, but never thought she would be able to perform on the biggest stage, but she definitely is.

Funny thing is, there are countless Eastern European women in tennis, but they rarely win the Grand Slams, do they?
Since 2000 we saw Sharapova winning 3 majors, Kusnezova winning 2, Ivanovic 1, Kvitova 1 and Myskina (who the hell was that??) 1.
So we have 8/48 Grand Slams going to Eastern Europe, which is not that much, is it?

What does that tell us?
Maybe that even though there are soooo many of them around, and they all seem to be part of a system, that made little 4year old girls go to the US, they maybe could bear a lack of determination(apart from Sharapova that is, she is somewhat impressive in her fighting spirit)...Maybe that comes from what I just said. Maybe they didnt like to leave their homes and even their country when they were little kids, so there could be some hidden resistance to their profession.
(wow that is some kind of crazy amateur-psychological-speculation, isn't it).

What do you think about it?

The williams sisters clijsters henin and sharapova have dominated so there are only a few other Slams to share.

Disappointing outburst from Serena I wonder if authorities will have balls to invoke her suspended ban.

Full credit to Stosur I hope well see more of her winning and either see Wozniacki realise she needs to raise her game or get a number 1 who can win slams.

It's annoying me to keep seeing quotes from Serena saying that Stosur "deserved to win". Tell me something I don't know.
