Petition signed.

What petition? Is it anything to do with Girls Aloud?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's about banning Michael Owen from banging Ashley Cole's ex. The dorty bestard
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Owen is many things, but I think he has more sense than to put his manhood inside that particular box.

Didn't Beckham once give Owen's sister a downstairs punt?

I seem to remember there being a very big covered up stink about it at the time.

Quick Google, found one reference to such a thing: http://www.redcafe.net/threads/sordid-rumours.12425/

Did you write it?

Not me guvnor. I did used to post on a forum hosted by Rivals back in the day that got suspended for a number of weeks and the word was it was because of so many Beckham dipping Owen's sister posts and Beckham's solicitor had got wind of it and was making threats against Rivals.

So you don't want Owen because he joined United? Yes, there is a rivalry, but in that case shouldn't it be someone like Gerrard taking that role? He's the only modern Liverpool through and through retired footballer I can think of. Carragher is an Everton fan so surely it can't be him because he supports a rival club? Get over it. Not many can fill the role.

It's not just because he played for a rival. It's also because of how he behaved over his move to Madrid.

What about Gerrard pushing for, and agreeing, a move to Chelsea before backing down?

Wasn't there something similar about Gerrard and Daniel Agger's missus? Like John Terry and Bridge? Perhaps it is a club captain's right to take whatever he fancies?

Did he move to Chelsea? Gerrard contributed plenty to the club. Owen said he wanted to move to win trophies, then fooked about so we got something daft like £10m for him.

It's okay to meet and push for a move as long as it never happens.

If you are open then it should not the done thing.

In fairness, if Real Madrid comes calling, even at that time, you'd have predicted Madrid to win more trophies than Liverpool. I know, subsequently, Liverpool won the CL in 2005 famously, but before that event, you'd expect Madrid to win more than Liverpool. Not many get the chance to play for Liverpool.

Yes, Gerrard turned it down, but he's already got a more important tole of bringing the talent through the ranks of the youth system rather than sitting upstairs as an ambassador, which is almost a glossier name for season ticket holder up in the God's at Anfield.

Yeah because the club weren't fooking him about with his contract were they.

Not a clue.

My dad used to drive an ambassador around. Never had a big tache though.

Him wanting to go to Real Madrid wasn't the issue. He stalled and let his contract run down. We should've got a fortune for him. Instead we got £10m plus Nunez (less said the better). Him playing for Utd later didn't help either.

As far as i know the ambassador thing is part 'have tea with a club legend' thing, plus hospitality in the boxes and part going to places like Asia and playing in legends games that end up with shiite loads of merchandise being sold. I don't rate him as a club legend so don't want him in the role.

Oh and handing Ferrera Roche's around. That's the other thing ambassadors do.

That's clearly a disagreement between manager and player then. Behind the scenes, Madrid will have wanted him before, the manager has said no so Owen has just let his contract run down because he was unhappy and wanted to move. Obviously going to United isn't right, but you can't hold him against that.

OK, he isn't a club legend really if I was to be honest. Which modern ex-footballer is a club legend now? If you can make the United excuse with Owen, then Carragher being an Everton fan will be one. Gerrard is at the club. Who else? The oldies? Also, I've never seen Michael Owen in hopsitality.

Despite being a BS he still put in over 700 appearances for us, helping us to win trophies along the way. Rush was a BS as well i think.

posted on 25/5/17

Yeah but Owen also made x amount of appearances for Liverpool, scoring x amount of goals and also leading them to x amount of trophies in his time. Just because Carragher didn't move and Owen did to look to further his career doesn't make him a traitor like he's being made out really. Ok, I'll agree, not ideal because of his past but I can't see many fitting better in that role.

Look it's obvious us fans don't want him at the club. I think with good reason. I feel he fooked us when he moved, going on what was said at the time and the information doing the rounds at Anfield.

Don't know why rival fans feel there's a debate to br had.

I'm not against the decision to remove Owen. I'm probably more against the club having an ambassador that doesn't really seem to provide any significant beneifts to the club other than the novelty for fans, but they have that in hospitality anyway because they have "club legends" visit every game and they take pictures with fans and sign shirts, programmes etc.

I'm not saying there is a debate, but if there was, who would replace him would be my question.

All clubs have them.
