But Ramsey was offside, ref got it wrong. The offside rule is already how you want it just the referees sometimes don't get it.
It wasn't offside because Alexis played the ball forward and collected the ball.
It was a blatant handball anyway.

We all get that bit.
But on Ramsey, even though he did not touch the ball he was still in play because he moved towards the ball and addressed it as if to touch it. That affected Courtois decision making.
It's about the offside rule, not interfering with play is ridiculous what are you doing on the pitch if you're not interfering,if you're in an offside position, that means the last opposition player you should be flagged offside,no ifs or buts you're offside,if that's not the rule then the rule needs changing.

I don't think the rule is fine....
According to FIFA, simply running towards the ball doesn't amount to being involved in 'active play'.
The laws state that a player is not committing an offence by simply being in an offside position - or even in the same area of active play for that matter.
FIFA summarise the 'interfering with play' law saying you can only do so by "playing or touching the ball passed or touched by a teammate," which Ramsey didn't do.
Now i have lifted those two quotes from the Mirror so it could be rubbish, but if they are correct, then the law needs amending.
Maybe should be related to the non interfering players distince to the ball, like Ramsey was very close to the ball yesterday and had to have had an impact on Courtois ability to reach the ball, Ramsey didn't do much but he was there.
But if a player who is on the other side of the box far from the ball in an offside position but has had no impact on the play then the rule is a good one

It would make things a lot clearer for sure.
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or
interfering with an opponent by:
preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
challenging an opponent for the ball or
clearly attempting to play a ball which is close to him when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
or
gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent
been deliberately saved by any opponent
A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball (except from a deliberate save by any opponent) is not considered to have gained an advantage.
A ‘save’ is when a player stops a ball which is going into or very close to the goal with any part of the body except the hands (unless the goalkeeper within the penalty area).
So Ramsey didn't play the ball, didn't challenge an opponent for the ball, didn't attempt to play the ball, didn't make an obvious action which clearly impacted on the ability of an opponent to play the ball.
the bit aboutcoming back from an offside position is also confusing for line and ref as at free kcks at some stage all attacking players go behind the defensive line trying to drag them out of position and run back as the ball is kicked but there is no way ref or line can judge that many players,

This clause allows for subjectivity and it could be tighter to be much more black and white.
He didn't attempt to play the ball at all. He didn't make any action that impacted an opponents ability to play the ball, not a single Chelsea player was close enough.

Yes that is what happened, but the law says "clearly attempting to play the ball" By that law it wasn't clear, in fact, Ii would say he had no intention to play the ball, problem is he gave the impression he might and he ended up shielding it from Courtois..
Hence the titel of my OP...rule needs to be tweaked.

That's not true, Courtois could have played the ball.
So why didn't he? Alexis shot from the same position as Ramsey would have, but Courtois did nothing.
if you look at the view from behind the goal (courtois view he sees Sanchez to late to react. Maybe after that we should have conceded but if it hadnt stood the whole game would have changed and we would maybe not have needed to chase the game
As the great Brian Clough once said!
“If any one of my players isn’t interfering with play, they’re not getting paid”
It is subjective and another ref may have judged Ramsey to be interfering, but when the decision is clear cut the rule is good

Well I addressed that in my article, but the flag was up for Ramsey but nonetheless the instginct of the GK would be to play the situation as normal, which means not to go out to Ramsey.
Ramsey not there then he would have come out to an on rushing Sanchez.

Yep, where possible all rules need to be clear and black and white. Of course that is not always possible, but when it comes to off side, it probably could be.
