I´m not saying that Meireles is a better player than Modric but Meireles for 12 million is a significantly better signing than Modric for 40 million.

^ You've put it better than I put it, that's basically what I personally think

All round yes, if Meireles can do well for us for say 3 years for 12 million it is a great signing, by this time Josh Mceachran will be 21 and ready to start week in week out. It's a no brainer for me

I was very happy with the signing. Would I have preferred Modric? yes, but Meireles is a very good player and we desperately needed someone in the centre.

PS - Torres fee has nothing to do with his failure, I don't care what the price tag is for a player. If Torres cost £1m He'd still be a failure.

Most fans get overly bogged down in the fees in my opinion and for no reason as far I can see. It is not your money on the line.

The transfer fee is only important to the media.

I´m stating to think that Torres´s first name is not actually "Fernando" but "Fifty million pound man".

The media just won´t let it go.

So for that reason the transfer fee is relevant because the media have so much (too much) influence.

The media don't have any influence on our opinions (unless you are easily brainwashed), which is what this is about. so in this case the fee doen't matter.

I judge a player on how they perform, wherer 50m or 50k

I think he'll be as effective as Modric might have been of not as good
