Saeed Anwar scored only 20 centuries in ODIs but was a better batsman than many players who scored more centuries in ODIs than say Kohli,Amla or Smith.

don't think there is any denying Kohli being a higher run scoring/dangerous ODI player than Root/KW/Smith?

all three are above him in terms of stability, reliance etc making them superior test players to Kohli. The 4 certainly being the stand out cricketers of today, with AB de Villiers and Amla being freaks of nature on their day

not sure high run scoring is accurate, more that he converts into big scores more often and has that ability to chase down. For instance, if that was Kohli instead of Williamson yesterday against England, NZ probably would have won the game

a few points:

kohli has played double the number of ODIs of root

kohli came into a team where ODI cricket was given more importance, whilst root came into England as a key bat in test cricket where our focus was

up until recently, ODI wickets in England were rarely batsman friendly.

given the shift in England's ODI stats - the number of 300+ scores in the last year and root's own personal figures including 4 centuries in the last 15 months - i'd expect to see an upwards trend in average and 100s scored.

root's key role in the side is to hold innings together, keep scoring whilst allowing the big hitters around him to accelerate. roy, hales, morgan, stokes, buttler, all have more freedom to get quick runs or get out trying.

Kohli has weakness. We all know that and he also knows that. But there is no denying that he is a very committed cricketer who has so much drive to score match winning 100s. His style of cricket is very unique and he is among the very few who has been so consistent across all formats

kohli is a great player. I do believe there is only one real way to get him out. If you bowl around his hips and waist level he usually nicks it behind. But not many teams know this!

Only one realy way to get him out, are you serious?

He is a great player, but that is some hero worship there.

Take this ct for example. Flat roads all throughout the tournament. All major batsman have scored runs. But kohli has not only scored runs, he has made sure he finishes the games. The result is an average of 250+

No one can doubt kohlis quality, however if I was an Indian fan I'd be a little worried that his stats in knock out games in big tournaments because they don't make great reading.
