My guess... Less goals, better team football.
I haven't seen a great deal of him but when I did Morata struck me as an intelligent player - the type of centre forward who is a 'footballer' rather than an instinctive goal predator. Like JSPC, I could see him with his awareness and movement enabling the other attacking players to score more.
As for his own scoring, I could imagine him being on the end of a lesser proportion of our chances created but perhaps we'd create more chances with a more mobile attack.
I'd be happy with hat JSPC predicts. If he can bring in his team mates more that will improve the team overall. Mkhi, Pogba, Martial, Mata and Rashford have it in them to score ten plus goals a season. If we can get them doing that, we will be doing much better.
So we seem happy to sacrifice goals from our CF for the potential for others to score goals. Hmmmm
What's wrong with that John. Drogba was never prolific but he had plenty around him chipping in and his style of play helped that. Chelsea didbt do too badly.
Rashford is going to be a superstar one day but Morata is a bit of an underwhelming signing for Utd IMO....a Real Madrid reserve player.
My issue with him is his decision making... He'll try a trick instead of a simple pass, sometimes. I can live with that... I like players confident in their skills and who want to entertain... But he'll get stick for it
Depends what you mean by prolific. Drogba averaged 1 goal every 2 games.
I just don't get why we would be looking at a CF we think is going to get less goals than Kane, Lukaku, Costa, Aguero just so he can bring others into play.
a Real Madrid reserve player.
.............
Who score 20 goals for the first team... Hmmm
People are idiots... Robben was a real Madrid reject, as we many great players... Real do not operate like normal clubs
OK, so we accept he will get less goals than Ibra.
How exactly does he give us "better team football" ?
Name one ability where Morata stands out. None. Just another run of the mill striker. Spanish Kevin Philips

Quicker, better dribbler, better in wide areas/channels
Were you still toddling when we changed from RVN to Saha?
In 2 full seasons at Juve, 27 goals in 93 appearances. Even if he may create more opportunities for others I'd be expecting 27 goals in one season at least for the fee we would be paying. Absolutely crazy.

I'm told that his goals to minutes ratio is very good, but it has to be a concern that at his age he has failed to displace strikers such as benzema or mandzuckic from the first 11, neither of whom are top class imo.
So if we drop say £70m on him and went into next season with morata/martial/rashford as our striking options, we'd somehow have ended up with a £120m strikeforce consisting of 3 players who have never scored more than 15 goals in a league season (something even, eg, charlie austin has managed).
it could work wonderfully, but for sure it shouldn't be viewed as risk free.
He's scored more goals than any other player for Spain since the beginning of last year.
In 2014/2015 he scored in both legs of the semi final of the CL against Real and in the final of the CL against Barca
I'm nowhere near his biggest fan and would be gutted if Lukaku went to Chelsea but I can see a scenario where Morata gets us 20 goals a season and helps other players score more which might just be enough.

We should totally ignore last season then?
But why is a 20 goal a season and 10 assists striker better than a 30 goal a season striker with no assists ?

Because we're not so reliant on him - say he has a game where he's not scoring - he can at least bring others into play and make us less one dimensional
But we are reliant on him to assist still.
Not being difficult here. My view however is that CF are there to score goals. We should have enoihh creativity in Pogba, Mhiki, Mata and co to not have to sacrifice goals from a CF.
Put it another way. I guarantee the large majority on here would take Kane over Morata if we could get them for a similar fee.

Again I point to RVN and Saha.... RVN was one of the world's very best, but our football was really poor for some time because we became reliant on his goals and set up to get the ball to him.
Ji, most top sides are reliant on 1 player for the majority of their goals (Real, Bayern, City, Barca, Juve, Arsenal, Dortmund, PSG)
Having a CF who can get you 25-30 goals a season doesn't mean you have to play poor be 1 dimensional

Last season he was on the bench for the most part for Real. As I understand it he had a pretty good strike rate. But there are quite a few players who had great strike rates from the bench but not replicate that form as a starter. I was specifically looking at what he could do as a regular starter which for £70m you'd like to think he would be a starter

Absolutely. But he would more likely only be sold for near to twice that fee if at all
He got 20 goals, last season, and was not the main man... Let's not talk like he isn't capable of those numbers.
