Drogba at his best was a truely great sight to behold and although he'll never get back to that I think he still has a role to play this season

Word for word what TBK said provided the man's ego doesn't prevent him from filling a more subdued role. I suspect it might and he'll be off with Anelka on a bosman next summer.

Well said

Drogs is, was an always will be ten times the player Wazza is, on and off the pitch

He's been our most important player for some time. Not just his goals, his linkup play, hios presence, his defending

He scored and assisted 27 goals last season, not bad for a player who's past it

Hopefully even the imbeciles running our club wouldn't be stupid enough to let a player of his calibre leave on a free

Ridiculously under-rated player. Just a shame the British media are more concerned witht hat classless, shameless mercenary at united

Drogba was the greatest out and out striker of his generation. Of that I´m in no doubt.

Last season we saw a significant drop in Drogba´s performances although I think that his Malaria was largely to blame.

He still has a part to play for Chelsea, for another season at least - especially if Torres doesn´t start firing.

Can't wait till this hangs up his boots. He's been tormenting us for years.

Absolutely class player on his day

Well that might be due to the fact drogbas done nothing of note this season, as people say his best days are behind him and rooneys scored 8 in four, dont see why the press would be talking about him tbh.

Always thought he was awesome since he turned us over pretty much single handedly for Marseilles in the uefa cup a year or 2 before he signed for you. Great player. Best all round striker of his generation someone said? Hard to argue really

That´s why we brought in Lukaku so he can carry on the Drogba tradition of tormenting and eating your little Arsenal players for breakfast

You just wait till Lukaku gets to grips with the prem Kamran

In 2009/10 he was at his best and was the best striker in the world

Even in 09/10 when Drogba scored nearly 10 more goals than Rooney despite taking near enough 10 less penalties, Rooney still got player of the year

posted on 12/9/11

He scored 3 more goals in 09/10..

Thats not nearly ten, just so you know.

And whats that got to do with the here and now. Why would the press be talking about drogba atm?

"He scored 3 more goals in 09/10.."

Ok my bad but remember Drogba was away at ACON for a month and was not first choice pen taker, Rooney did not have either obstacle.

Yes i accept Rooney is better right this second but even when Drogba is on top form he has quite frequently got overlooked.

posted on 12/9/11

Hold on just two shakes of a ducks tale here. Apart from 07 and 10 where he scored 30 plus, drogbas only scored more than fifteen goals another 2 times.

I appreciate what a good player he is. But lets not get silly here. His record is good, but he hasnt exactly been henry has he?

posted on 12/9/11

When did i say that? but the fact in 2010 he got to 37 goals with only one of them being penalties and he was out for a month at the ACON, has any one got to that haul in a season with similar obstacles?

Im aware that Henry, Ronaldo, Messi and the rest are in top form more consistently and are better but when Drogba is RIGHT on top off his game he is not as far behind them as people like to make out

posted on 12/9/11

Agreed with tommy99, the 09/10 season he wasn't far behind messi and Ronaldo, yet the Brittish media made out that Rooney was the best player in the league...
When actually during that season Drogba scored more goals in less games, assisted more, and scored general better goals.
Drogba's record might have been better if he didn't have a constant struggle with knee injuries, both his 07/08 and his 08/09 were ruined by injury problems and unrest.

Well the same can said of rooney. Look at his last two games for christ sake.

With that in mind what seperates those 3 and the other 2 is the fact that by and large they are/were on top of their game 9 weeks out of ten.

Drogba, save for two seasons, same with rooney btw, hasnt been..

@TheStrettyEnd - He Tracks Back My Lord - The Defamation Of Strettland Banks *

When both are on top form, Drogba is a better player than Rooney.

posted on 12/9/11

I highly disagree with that.

Rooney has outscored him all but 2 seasons. And usually racks up about 10 - 15 assists.

Rooneys passing and the defensive side of his game also far beat drogba's.

Not sure anyone's got any credible evidence to support such a claim.

Especially as rooneys just about at an age where drogba was getting noticed.
