Can't disagree, should have sacrificed his wicket
Wouldn't have made a difference
Why would it have mattered? Pandya was hardly going to make 200 runs on his own. What a silly assertion. It's pointless pointing fingers at your own players because mistakes happen on the field even by the best.
Jade had a mare yesterday
Indian bowlers were a big let down this tournament. We made some good run outs against SA but otherwise only bhuvi picked wickets and bowled economically throughout. Bumrah, Ashwin and Jadeja were a disappointment. I think India need to move away from ashwin and jadeja. Their record is pretty crap since the WC in Odis and they don't even play that many anymore.
India made a huge mistake not playing the extra seamer. Our batsman miked the spin while Buvi bowled really well along with Pandaya. Had Yadhav or Shami played that could have made the difference.
Why didn't Shami play in the whole tournament? When he played the warm-up game's he looked good.
Yadav should always play in white ball cricket, he really has improved massively and his extra pace bring wickets.
Bumrah was a total flop imo. Balling wides, no balls all over the shop.
A little bit harsh on Bumrah, he bowled well at the end, but was let down with no balls. Yadav has been their best pace bowler for a while (in my opinion) and should have played.
This no ball stuff with Bumrah is not a rare occurance, he was doing it almost every game in the IPL.
In a super over where he bowled amazingly he still managed to bowl 1 or 2 no balls and he could have been punished. If that occassion he wasnt and yesterday he was as the guy went on to score a ton.
India as a whole bowled way too many extras yesterday (13 wides and 3 no balls) thats a min 18 extra runs and thats not even counting the runs that may have come off the extra delivery (imo would be around the 30 run mark). Paks although bowled 19 over less only gave away 1 yes ONE freaking wide.
And this is where we are going to struggle as a team. We are still using the same subcontinent formula of playing 2 spinners. We should only play one spinner and jadeja should not even be in the playing 15. His odi record is awful. We need to play 5 bowlers and pandya is not the 5th bowler. I don't think dhoni and yuvi should be in the team anymore. They are well past their best and yesterday was a good example. Could barely last 20 balls and a newbie like pandya scored more than these so called experienced players. Most teams that have performed really well such England and Pakistan are the teams that have backed their new young players. Dhoni and yuvi are still in the 2000 mindset of trying to take the game till the 49th over and play very cautiously till then.
And India should stop thinking they are a good chasing side. They have hardly ever chased 320+ on good wickets. They are over reliant on their top 3 winning matches for them and chasing 280's and 300's doesn't make one an extraordinarily good chasing side as that is the norm in this day and age.
I think you just have to Pakistan they were nothing short of sensational.
There was no need to play 2 spinners on that flat featherbed
Ashwin is an average one day bowler and got destroyed yesterday. Jadeja just had a mere and was paks 12th Man.
Pak finally played a modern day brand of cricket and were fearless. Each batter was attacking from the get go and they should have posted close to 360 if it wasn't for excellent death bowling by Bhuvinesh
Batting was fearless and bowling was fearless.
Nowadays batting is fearless, but bowling is always about restricting, but they took wickets.
Just true you got that spot on. The reason why Pak did so well throughout the tournament despite batting fragility was because their bowlers were always looking to take wicket. India on the hand picked an attack that from ball one looked to restrict batting sides. And in cases where opposition didn't fall in the trap of defending they lost.
If India play this same bowling attack they will lose more often than not
It may not have made a difference if Jadeja had given himself up, but it was the right thing to do for the team. And he failed miserably.
it wouldn't have made a difference to the result india had lost too many wickets already but showed where the mind set of some of the indian players was at that point, also dnt think the pitch was as flat as people were making out, just like the england game where we pretty much destroyed their much vaunted batting attack
Yes Viru,
You must look to take wickets. For the fist time in a long time, India seem to have the bowlers to attack, but really need to find the right combination and mindset. I agree that Shami or Yadav should've played.
Seriously, is there a need for this?
