Big year for him with the world cup next season. He will have to have a top top season just to make their squad!
Not the case imo. Jose gave him plenty of opportunities including in many big games to become a regular but it was often a case of one step forward two steps back.
..................
Which was often down to Jose who dropped him pretty much after every decent game he had.
I wonder if he will get the number 9 back after his sulk last season...

That's a myth. He was almost always kept in the team after a good game but two often followed it up with 2-3 poor games.

The same guy who created more chances than any other of our players, scored 9 goals from midfield and put in numerous MOTM performances.
He was poor at times but we are much stronger with him in the team.
Martial was dropped more than Pogba because
1) Pogba played better than Martial
2) there is more competition for places on the left than there is in CM
I'm hoping a more mobile striker than Zlatan could help Martial next season. Martial's quite one dimensional and suffers when cutting inside when the striker isn't moving defenders out of position. But obviously there's far more to his lack of form than this.

It really isn't.
In his first season he was really consistent like against Liverpool that one time

Other than the Boro home game where the next game was 2 days later, name me a time when Martial played well and was dropped the following game.
4-1 win against Fenerbache dropped next game against Chelsea 4-0 loss, and the next two games after.
Don't recall it happening much after that.
He will be your Lukaku or De Bruyne a player who Jose doest want and you regret selling a few years down the line.

History repeats itself. But what history? Mourinho has sold players he didn't rate and seen them come good elsewhere. He's sold players and they haven't done very well elsewhere. He has demanded more from players and seen them blossom under his management. At this stage all three options are possible.

Pogba actually got a double that night. Why are you so obsessed with Pogba out of interest?
VC said decent game, to be fair. I still agree with you it's a myth he kept getting dropped after decent games, though.

To be fair it probably is a bit of a myth.
I think what possibly led me down that path were a few games where he looked like one of the few players to make something happen in some games and Jose subbed him.
No doubt about him being frustrating for most of the time, mind.
Yeah agree with that. Most frustrating thing about him for me is his movement off the ball. Always wants it to feet in front of the defenders. Hardly runs in behind. It makes him too predictable and when in poor form easy to defend against.
He was absolutely brilliant against Middlesbrough at home in the 2-1 win where he got the winner. Next game away to West Ham he got dropped for lingard who had an absolute stinker. Game after that lingard started again
He really needs a good run in the team, hopefully next season he can get one.
He's one of our most naturally talented players.... Really hope he has a great season. Already starting to look forward to it, think things are gonna be very different.
