So your opinion of Wenger depends on whether Sanchez wants to stay? Seems logical
Why would it change anything? Even if Alexis stays Wenger will be the same flawed manager, although obviously he'll have a better team at his disposal - still won't challenge for the league though.

What's the point of this?
"Wenger doesn't care about your opinions"
So why are any of us, including yourself, wasting our time offering opinions on an online forum?
Shouldn't be in this position in the first place. Remember the club can afford to offer Sanchez a nice package but Wenger has not convinced Sanchez he is a good enough manager to compete for a title. I'm sure Sanchez would already have extended if club made a statement of ambition by bringing in a manager like Alegri. Lacazette is a good start as long as a few more quality signings follow but this alone doesn't cover up Wenger's flaws that Sanchez has witnessed. A few more big players might persuade Sanchez to stay but don't let this fool you into thinking Wenger has changed as a manager when the players are out on the pitch.
all irrelevant . Lacazette is the sweetner before Sanchez announces that he is leaving. Anyone who didn't get this 3 months ago is naive beyond comprehension.

Not sure why anyone would think this is up to Wenger? Stanley Kroenke sold RVP in a similar situation. Wenger has definitely left it late to renew his contract. He could have at anytime told the board of the importance of retaining Alexis. But that opportunity has gone.
If Alexis stays I will probably assume its because he wants to leave on a free and get a big signing on fee. If he signs a new contract I will be surprised and start to believe things may change.

And why exactly?
Now we have lacazette I'd rather we kept him even more. Having them both in attack even just for 1 year could be very successful, I'd rather we lost the money but properly compete for a season, then sell him and be back to square one. It's highly unlikely we could sign a player of Sanchez quality, especially with no CL. So I want to keep him this year, hope he helps us to a title challenge, or at least CL qualification, then with the CL and its money next season, we'd stand a better chance of replacing him. And who knows, if we improve significantly this coming season, he may still sign.
