Saw somewhere they offered him £60k a week!!!!
That's massive for a championship club.
Selling our star striker to a fellow Championship club is just madness and very bad judgement.
I believe the rules state that another club cannot talk to another clubs under contract player, without the permission of the club or until his contract has only six months to run?
Forest paid his wages for the 12 months that he was out injuried, all his rehab cost's and paid him for playing half a season.
There is just no loyalty and very little respect left in professional football anymore. Just look at the unedifying spat between Notts County and Forest Green Rovers over Liam Moore who is FGR's captain and midfield driving force last season, no respect shown at all.
Gutted didnt even get one full season from him, albeit through injury.
Opens the door for Brereton and Cummings hopefully they step up.
Nobody wants Britt to go, but the new chairman has stated we are financially crippled.
One has to logically assume then, to do any meaningful business we will have to dispense with a 'name' or two.
We are in a sorting out the doo-doo that Fawaz deposited by the Trent, mode. £14m would ensure we are secure.
I expect we'll end up mid table this season and if we do, it'll have been not too bad. We have so much rebuilding to do it's almost comical.
If he is being offered the reported £60k/week then he'd be as mad as Forest would be if he did turn it down.
Let's also remember all the 'drop him' comments on here and other places for a large chunk of last season.
That's the second time today I've seen a statement along the lines of "we paid his wages" when he was out injured. In fact, in MOST of these cases insurance would have paid his wages during that period.
You also mention that Forest would need to allow him to talk to other clubs. At the moment it's somewhat untrusted information, but say Forest have, it'd probably mean that we are not totally against cashing in.
Alan Nixon has made it sound like the club are keen
Maybe it's what the chairman warned us of, and they need to make a difficult decision in order to move forward as a whole.
With the position we are in we need to trust the new owners and their team's judgement. Unlike under Fawaz if he does go which I am sure he will there will be plans in place. Who knows Cummings and Brereton may step up to the plate and, when it comes down to it, no player is greater than the club, players come and players go. Be a loss admittedly but if he gets injured again as is possible then it will have been a good call.
Middlesbrough are abl e to buy purely because of their parachute payment for one season of abject failure. They are not and never will be a 'big' club, at very best they may be able to 'bounce between the champ and Prem, on a fairly regular basis. Britt will be going for purely financial reasons, certainly not to win trophies. Given a good injury free season with Forest, I am sure he would have attracted a much bigger and better club than Boro'. Normally for 14m I would say good luck, but not on this occasion, it's a horrible move all around, and some what bitterly I hope it doesn't come off.
There has been inference from Johnny Owen (who's involved in the club in some capacity now); that the move appears to be pushed by player and agent rather than the club. Fans who might be irrate if he's goes need to consider that players have the power these days so we need to make the best of a bad situation.
Unlike under Fawaz, I'd think the manager, DoF and other staff are in the loop and would be doing their best to get the most out of any fee for the benefit of the team
No fan should be irate, 14m is a fair price 👍
It's not like he has snuck out the backdoor for a knock down sale price of 4.5m like some we could mention 😂😂😂
It's modern football, it's good business, and it's our reality at the moment.
Is there a sell on percentage due to Peterborough for Britt ? I would be surprised if there wasn't .
Apparently Burnley are preparing to up their offer, what a choice Burnley or Middlesbrough, wouldn't fancy either of those, though 60 grand a week, I suppose you could live miles away.
Could be wrong but I won't hold breath for Burnley bidding big money for Britt, doesn't seem like something they'd do
I think the vast majority of supporters appreciate that the club is doing what needs to be done by selling Britt. Just a few who seem to believe the old 'retain and transfer' system is still in operation.
Let me just add something to the facts of football life: When we are promoted the tables will be turned and we will be a club that is buying strikers from the Championship for £20 million. Unfortunately we will then have to sell two years later for £60 million. That's the way it works - get used to it.
14m in this market, is pretty average. For that, I'd hope for 25% sell on plus incentives. 18m is about right in my eyes. McCormack was what, 13m?
But, he's only just returned from a serious injury. IF he flares up again then we'll be slightly smug that we sold him, bot hopefully gutted for a man who has been a real heart beat for Forest.
I still remember the spat between him and Lansbury over a penalty. Lansbury acted like Mr Forest and tried to take the applause and Britt looked and motioned to him like I'm more Forest than you.
I will be gutted iif he goes.
However, if we get one of Bostock, Luongo or MacDonald signed up. As a rumour site mentioned; Afobe on loan with a view to huy. Hector in on loan with view to buy. Wow. That is a fantastic side. Add in maybe a couple of more and with a bit of luck we could scrape sixth. Job done.
Boro are a Championship rival only by the league they find themselves in. They will more than likely be top. Sunderland are financiallly ruined and lost there best striker and goalkeeper. Have they signed anyone yet?
I believe in Miracles, but first, no chance, Second, next to no chance. Play-offs, it's possible....Fulham and Huddersfield for example. People may say same squad, but stability abounds now. Well, except for Britt, potentially.
After losing Antonio, I was heartbroken, after Burke the future had no meaning. Losing Britt? It's not like we finished third and Collymore leaves.
If we did sell to Boro then Leadbitter on loan? He'd be more of a difference than Britt. We're not far off, with or without Britt. For once it feels like we're on rhe up!
Ps I hope he stays 😜
Pretty clear from Tails webchat, that he's off, just a question of where and for how much?
Tails just parrots others to be honest.
Johnny Owen and Daniel Taylor were pretty much stating his head had been turned yesterday and trying to calm our more irrational fans down
Supposedly Britt has just changed agent, and is now keen on a big money move, thanks Forest for the support through my injury, but I am OFF. Just to make things better Peterborough have something in the region of a 20 percent sell on clause, so that will take care of around 1.8m, of a 14m transfer. I sincerely hope we can trigger a bidding war, but doubt Burnley will even match the smoggies bid, never mind better it. Either way it's good bye and thanks for nothing.

Not sure where you did Maths Dave but you're about £1m out
Not according to NEP 14m less the 5.5m we paid leaves approx 9m, 20 percent of 9m is about 1.8m, or at least it was when I went to school. Simples. The 20 percent sell on is only on the profit, not the whole fee.
Which is exactly what you said in your previous post 🙄
Turns out it's not better than the Hughes deal then 👍
Never mentioned the Hughes deal, just trying to find how I lost a million quid, I am not Mike Ashley after all.😄
Sad as it sounds there may be other motives for the sale of Scrabble. You may be close to activating another payment clause, no truth in this just a sad state of the way some of these deals are agreed.
It's just a sad state of affairs when we become feeder clubs (albeit expensive ones) for the likes of Burnley, Middlesbro', TWatford or even Huddersfield. Unfortunately the Sky money and FFP killed football for anyone who hasn't been in the prem.

We don't have to pay back the money we already spent on him, it's just used in the calculation for the sell on clause
We pay posh 1.8m, keep the rest
