He looked good in the Alexis role.

It's surprising how quickly people learn the swear words and terms of abuse in a foreign language.
Super excited to see how he does in the Premier League. Can't wait for us to get started!
Was Walcott as poor as it's being reported? Sounds like he had a shambolic performance.
Yes Walcott was poor. Nowhere near as bad as Danny "he works hard" Welbeck though.
I really don't get the love affair with Welbeck. All this talk of selling Giroud, Walcott and Ox.
Wtf about Welbeck. If I had to get rid of anyone it would be him
Walcott poor, shock, horror, what else would everyone expect.
I didn't see the game but I remember Theo getting a load of hate this time last year for his shocking pre season performances and he started off the season very well afterwards.
Think people are just gonna hate on Theo no matter what. Pre season means little
Yeah it's only the first game of pre-season, but people have been watching Walcott at Arsenal for over a decade now. I can't believe he's 28.
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to selling him (nor Welbeck @ Troy) and upgrading - however Theo looks certain to stay.
I just find it strange that fans prefer Welbeck over Walcott.
Welbeck is one of the poorest finishers I have seen at Arsenal
Our main goal source are sanxhez - Giroud - Walcott
I think it's important to keep all 3 this summer
TBH I think with the 3-4-3 turning out season around and Theo not really being part of it, whilst I'd be sad to see him go, I wouldn't begrudge the club cashing in on him. I think his time at Arsenal may be up really. But I'd rather keep him and hope for another 15+ goals for him this season given the choice.
The new formation works well against tough teams away from home but most of the time, against the lesser teams, especially at home, we really don't need to play it.
Saying that if we buy lemar we will have the following
Lacazette
Giroud
Walcott
Sanchez
Welbeck
Ox
Lemar
Someone will have to go
I'd bin Welbeck if it was up to me. He's basically a watered down version of Lacazette that doesn't score goals.

I don't think they're all that similar. Welbeck is more of a 'physical' player in that he'll go toe to toe with CBs and use his frame and strength to disrupt them. Lacazette from what I've seen is more in the Walcott mould in that he's a short, zippy poacher type who doesn't particularly relish physical confrontation.
Welbeck is a watered down version of Sanogo ffs.
Yaya won us a cup final, Danny boy nearly cost us one.
I said when Welbeck initially came back strong from his long term injury that he'd start to struggle massively once the adrenalin wore off.
He's not good enough anyway but what you're seeing now is a combination of being a poor player + the slow road to full recovery.
Really don't understand all of this criticism about Danny. I think he's done just fine for us since joining and has been really unfortunate with injuries, apparently he was rarely (if ever) injured at Man Utd so perhaps it's our own doing like usual.
When he picked up the first bad injury he looked better than ever when he came back and recovered, then he picked up another bad one and despite some glimpses of quality and hard-work towards the end of last season he clearly needs some more time. A normal pre-season this year will do him a world of good.
Always rated him highly and hope he proves any doubters wrong this season. Just because he works harder than anyone else does not make him a bad football DJ that is an absurd line of thinking. I wish that lazy fat ( U N T Giroud would work even a quarter as hard the French donkey.

His Hard Work made this opportunity, his pace allowed him to capitalise on it and an excellent first touch allowed him to push it around one of the Top 5 Goalkeepers in the world. Balls to your criticism of him, if he can keep fit, get back to his best and improve his composure a little bit he'll be a great striker and I'd much prefer to have his hard-work & pace than anyone else that would be backup to Lacazette.
You Can't Buy Class (U12019)
He brings qualities that are a welcome relief from the limitations that Giroud brings but that doesn't make him good enough moving forward.
I agree that he needs more time to get back to his best but there is absolutely nothing to suggest his best is good enough for a top side which we should aspire to be.
At 26, with his injury issues, it's doubtful he's going to improve significantly either.

I think we can both agree it's a big season for Welbeck at Arsenal unless he's happy to be a squad player for the rest of his career or move to a smaller club - I just think he deserves our support.
Perhaps improving technique and heavily-physical based attributes are less likely to improve after 25 years of age but mental attributes can continue to improve for an entire career, composure with his finishing can still improve as far as I'm concerned.
Always rated him highly and hope he proves any doubters wrong this season. Just because he works harder than anyone else does not make him a bad football DJ that is an absurd line of thinking.

I think you misunderstood. The "he works hard" bit was a jibe at those who defend his awfulness by claiming he works hard as if that makes up for his lack of ability. He doesn't even work hard, games pass him by. Recently he played one PL match and had 16 touches in the 70 minutes he was on!! I guess it would have been more if his first touch wasn't so awful.
Not sure linking a goal that was put on a plate for him by a horrendous mistake is the best way of defending him. It was nothing to do with hard work and it was hardly an excellent first touch, bog standard touch!
We are talking about a striker whose best scoring season saw him get 12 goals!
I disagree, he was closing down the space which caused the panic and failed back pass. After two long injury spells I'm not sure judging his ability on one recent PL game is so fair either. He's never had a full season starting as a Striker, he's always played off the wing, normally cutting in from the left as an inside forward and often off the bench for Manc Utd so 12 goals doesn't mean so much.
Not saying he's ever going to be a WC Player but you seem to have it in for him and that's being a bit harsh on the lad.

Oh, so Giroud is fair game despite contributing a lot more? Calling him a "lazy, fat caaant" is fair but calling Welbeck awful is being harsh?
Giroud has had similar goals to that Welbeck one, such as against Sunderland a couple of years back, or when he mugged Boruc to tap in - but I doubt they will be put down to "hard work"...
