Perhaps Ace just thinks Walker is a runner that lacks nuance to his game. Not my opinion, but you would only have to go back a few years and it would be most people's opinion I would guess.

To blame it on race is pretty low. I know Ace was all over signing Wanyama for a fact, more so than anyone I remember

I find it is something levelled at English players, rather than black players.

The quicker the player, the more it gets levelled.

I do not think it is controversial to say black players are generally the quickest players in a side.

Not saying there is nothing in what you say by the way.

I just do not think it the main reason is all.

I actually agree with this.

I think it is the quicker, English players that get tarred with it.

That the quickest English players tend to be black probably makes it appear more prevalent.

I don recall most of the above being called brainless if I am honest. Walcott with the football-brain comments probably the only one.

The others have simply had what Analog levelled at Townsend. Headless chicken that relies on pace, no end product. That sort of thing

I come at this from a position of Lennon being one of my all-time favourite Spurs players, constantly defending Townsend, and sticking up for Walker and Rose on many an occasion against Trippier (although I am sure he is mixed race himself) and Davies.

And do you think your defence of Townsend was justified? I think it's clear those of us who didn't like him have been proven right that he isn't good enough for a top PL team

Depends what type of football brain is in question really.

Jamie Vardy has good movement and finishing, but he would never be classed as a footballer's footballer.

I suppose the flipsidr would be someone such as Lamela, who does not have nearly as much of a goal threat as Walcott does, but is deemed an intelligent player

My point is - justified or not in defending Andros - I am coming at this from a viewpoint that is not the stereotypical one you suggest. I have no dog in the fight. Ox is another I rate very highly from your list.

There was a time I did get a feeling Spurs fans were picking on the black (or other) lads.

Adebayor, Lennon, Townsend, Huddlestone, Livermore, Paulinho, Jenas, Kaboul, Rose, Walker, Naughton all getting a bit of stick in a short period.

Then It dawned on me I did not rate half of them myself. And that black lads such as Chronic and Ledley Knee also gave them stick. I realised I may be seeing something that was not there.

Of course, some fans will have those preconceptions. I do not pretend it does not exist.

Lamela is intelligent in the fact that he can see and execute nice passes. But tbh he's just a more gifted footballer than Walcott rather than more intelligent

I think Edbo is absolutely correct.
Walker had a falling out with Pochettino.
And that's why he was sold.
But, as Jenas says, why on earth did we sell to a direct competitor?

I think that is what people mean when they think of football intelligence though fella, rightly or wrongly.

The old cliche of the first 10 yards being in the head. Players that do not need pace, players that make the side tick.

I will give an example of where racism could easily be assumed. The attitudes towards Bent and Soldado. Both penalty box predators, both big signings, both lacking in bottle in my opinion. Whereas Soldado was supported, Bent was jeered.

Was that racism? Not for me. It was the fact Soldado was Spanish (when their stock had never been higher) and exotic, and Darren Bent sounds like a man who comes round to fit your bathroom
